Photos from the set of Marvel Studios’ upcoming Secret Invasion series offer a better look at Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury without the eye patch.
Several new photos from the set of Marvel’s upcoming Secret Invasion series offered a better look at Samuel L. Jackson’s appearance as Nick Fury.
The photos, which were taken from where Secret Invasion is currently filming outside The Savoy hotel in London, England, show off Jackson’s character with a longer beard and missing his signature eyepatch. In one photo shared on Twitter, a close-up of Fury’s face offers a better look at where Goose — a dangerous alien called a Flerken who appeared as a cat — scratched the S.H.I.E.L.D. director’s eye in 2019’s Captain Marvel. More photos from the Secret Invasion set show Jackson reuniting with Ben Mendelsohn’s Talos, a Skrull who previously appeared in Captain Marvel.

Fury’s glorious beard was on display recently after photos from a scene filmed in Leeds, UK, surfaced. The photos featured Jackson wearing a grey coat and green winter hat on a set that appeared to be doubling for Russia. A video of Fury and Talos’ reunion was also captured from the Leeds set, where Mendelsohn can be seen missing the Skrulls’ signature green skin, suggesting Talos may have shapeshifted into a human for the scene.
Other new and returning characters spotted on the Secret Invasion set include Emilia Clarke’s mysterious character, who appeared in a short clip taken from the Leeds set. Extras on the street can be seen wearing warm clothes, including traditional Russian fur hats, apparently supporting previous set photos that have shown Leeds becoming a Russian city for the shoot. In January, reports indicated that Secret Invasion was filming in Halifax, England under the working title “Jambalaya,” with signs around the set advertising for the real-life Russian holiday, “National Unity Day,” also indicating that part of the series may take place in Russia.
Cobie Smulders, who portrays Maria Hill in the MCU, has also been spotted on set as the former Deputy Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., with a recently surfaced set photo where the actor can be seen receiving battle-damaged makeup.
Plot and character details for Secret Invasion are currently being kept classified by Marvel, but more updates may be on the way after a report indicated the series has nearly finished filming. Although no official release date has been set for the six-episode miniseries, one insider claimed filming on Secret Invasion is “almost done,” which appears to line up with the Disney+ series’ current 2022 release window.
Secret Invasion is currently scheduled to premiere on Disney+ sometime in 2022, but does not yet have a specific release date.
