Schwarzenegger’s ‘Arnold Classic’ Loses Sponsor over ‘Screw Your Freedom’ Comments

Former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has just lost one of his corporate sponsors for his annual bodybuilding competition, the Arnold Classic, following disappointing comments made by the Hollywood star criticizing people who do not wear masks.

“You have the freedom to wear no mask. But if you exercise that freedom, you’re a schmuck — because you’re supposed to protect your fellow Americans,” he wrote in the Atlantic magazine. He then interview the man responsible for kicking off the pointless impeachment trial against President Trump, and then doubled down on his remarks.

Redcon1’s founder has indicated that his supplement company will no longer be a sponsor of any Schwarzenegger-related events. “It’s with a heavy heart and some genuine sadness, that REDCON1 has decided to discontinue any and all support for the Arnold Classic and the other Arnold related events around the world,” founder Aaron Singerman wrote on Instagram.

Schwarzenegger received harsh blowback for his “screw your freedom” and “schmucks” comments. But the former California governor stands by his insults, albeit hypocritical. As many have spotted him around town not wearing a mask.

“Anyone who says ‘screw your freedoms’ is un-American, and REDCON1 is a patriotic pro-freedom brand. We support freedom of choice,” Singerman continued. “We don’t want Arnold censored or cancelled. We just can’t support his opinion with our dollars.”

Redcon1 has been a sponsor of the Arnold Classic for at least a decade, Singerman said.

I’m not as much of a “CoMiCs NeEd MoAr DiVeRsItY & iNcLuSiOn” advocate as my girlfriend often is, but we both love funny books, crispy bacon, straight bourbon and hip hop. Add yet, we never vote the same, so we cancel each other out… and that works perfectly in my book!
