Bandai Namco Arts gives Ghost in the Shell fans a preview of the new compilation film Sustainable Warfare by releasing the first eight minutes online.
Bandai Namco Arts has released the first eight minutes of Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 Sustainable Warfare online ahead of the film’s theatrical release.
The eight minutes are available to watch for free on the company’s official YouTube Channel and provide viewers a look at fan-favorite characters like The Major/Motoko Kusanagi, Batou and Daisuke Aramaki. The story follows the members of Public Security Section 9 as they work as mercenaries after a worldwide economic disaster that is known as the Simultaneous Global Default.
Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 Sustainable Warfare is a compilation movie of the Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 anime series that premiered exclusively on Netflix on April 23, 2020. The series is a CG continuation of the storyline of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex and is a collaboration between studios Production I.G (Psycho-Pass, FLCL Progressive) and Sola Digital Arts (Blade Runner: Black Lotus) with Kenji Kamiyama (Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex – Solid State Society) and Shinji Aramaki (Evangelion: Another Impact) serving as co-directors.
Ilya Kuvshinov (Pretty Boy Detective Club, The Wonderland) is credited as the character designer, Dai Saito (Wolf’s Rain, Lupin III: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine) and Ryou Higaki (Princess Principal, Moribito – Guardian of the Spirit) as scriptwriters and Kazuma Jinnouchi (Ultraman) and Nobuko Toda (The Journey Home) as music composers. Michihito Fujii (Samurai Gourment) oversaw the process of re-editing Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 into Sustainable Warfare.
The cast includes several experienced and popular voice actors like Atsuko Tanaka (Kingdom, Your Lie in April) as The Major, Osamu Saka (Sword Art Online, Knights of Sidonia) as Aramaki, Akio Ōtsuka (Girls’ Frontline, Boruto: Naruto Next Generations) as Batou, Kōichi Yamadera (My Hero Academia, Lupin the Third Part 6) as Togusa and Sakiko Tamagawa (Hajime no Ippo: New Challenger, Eden of the East) as the Tachikoma.
Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 Sustainable Warfare will have a two-week theatrical run in Japan starting on Nov. 12. Currently, it is unclear if the film will receive an international or North American release.
Both the English dubbed and subtitled versions of the anime series are available to stream on Netflix and a second season of Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 has been confirmed. It will debut sometime in 2022 alongside new seasons of The Rising of the Shield Hero, Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?, Ascendance of a Bookworm, The Case Study of Vanitas, The Demon Girl Next Door and Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club.
