RWBY Volume 9 Delayed – All Ages of Geek

[ad_1]

RWBY fans are eagerly awaiting Volume 9 after Volume 8 ended in March of 2021, which premiered in November 2020. Production of RWBY Volume 9 was underway in June of 2020, according to an episode of Rooster Teeth’s animation-centric podcast I Have Notes. “We [have] started writing Volume 9 for RWBY,” Shawcross shared, “It’s the end of June of 2020 and we’re working on Volume 8 and Volume 9. It’s… it’s a good feeling. It’s scary, but it’s good.” However, the Covid-19 pandemic has brought a few delays to the development of the ninth volume. Joey Clary, Co-Head of Animation at Rooster Teeth, tweeted that RWBY Vol. 9 has been delayed. The company is taking its time to produce quality work while keeping their employees safe during Covid-19. They will try to finish production for a 2022 release date.

While fans wait for a premiere date for Volume 9 in 2022, the next RWBY novel, Roman Holiday, from E.C. Myers and RWBY‘s head writers, Kerry Shawcross and Eddy Rivas, was released on Sept. 7. Myers would be returning to the world of RWBY for a third novel after previously writing  RWBY: After the Fall and RWBY: Before the Dawn. Myers also wrote the in-universe fairy tale book RWBY: Fairy Tales of Remnant.

The fan-favorite RWBY villains Roman Torchwick and Neopolitan (aka Neo) will have their origin story told in the new novel, Roman Holiday. The character of Roman Torchwick was introduced as a central RWBY villain all the way back in Volume 1, with his partner in crime, Neo, debuting in Volume 2. Roman was killed off towards the end of Volume 3 and Neo disappeared for a time before resurfacing (with a brand-new look, no less) in Volume 6. She has stuck around since and will factor into the upcoming Volume 9.

With the release of Roman Holiday on Amazon and Audible on Sept. 7, RWBY fans have a story to hold them over until more information about RWBY Volume 9 is released. Roman Holiday is $9.99 for paperback on Amazon and $14.95 on Audible. Until then, Rooster Teeth’s production is working hard to produce the best version of Volume 9 while staying safe during the pandemic, which fans happily await the new volume.
