Nintendo fans on Twitter got quite the surprise yesterday when a tweet by the official company account sent out a message from the creator of Mario, Shigeru Miyamoto.
Yes, in a short tweet – Miyamoto took control of the company’s Twitter account (don’t worry, we’re sure he had permission) to thank Japanese fans for voting for Nintendo’s games in the nationwide poll about the best console video games of all time. Here’s his message in full, courtesy of a Google translation:
“This is Miyamoto. Thank you for voting for many Nintendo titles in the “Video Game General Election” that aired last night. It was also an opportunity to recall each scene of game development that has been repeated for nearly 40 years. We will continue to create video games that will bring new experiences to everyone.”
In case you missed it, Nintendo games dominated the top 10 – including The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild taking out first place. You can see the “top 100” as voted by 50,000 players around Japan in our previous post.
What did you think of the top 100, according to the Japanese television network poll? Is Zelda your top pick? Comment below.
