We all remember the Nintendo DS fondly, right? The chunky grey thing that had two screens and let you play Super Mario 64 in the palm of your hands from day one? The handheld that brought us hundreds of classics such as Pokémon Black and White, Ghost Trick, Radiant Historia, and Animal Crossing: Wild World?
If you want to play any of those games again – and you don’t have your dual-screen darling anymore – then one Reddit user might just have the answer for you.
A few days ago, DS enthusiast MikeDubbz shared his hybrid DS-like creation online. Using a 3D printer to create a grip for his Joy-Cons, and then attach them to a Samsung Galaxy Z Flip to create that DS mini that many of us dreamt of (No? Just Us?).
The Joy-Cons pair easily with the phone via Bluetooth, and you just need to download an emulator for the Switch controls to map to the phone, as well as another to actually play DS games on there.
Of course, if you have a DS still – lucky you – then you probably don’t need to go to the extra effort. Still, it’s extremely fascinating to see the lengths fans go to create alternative ways to play their favourite games or create their own versions of their favourite consoles.
So, is a 3DS with a fully-functioning 3D slider next?
