Those of you with a good enough memory to recall anything before yesterday’s Nintendo Direct announcements (were there even games back then?) might remember the release of the creepy life-sim-come-cult-builder, Cult of the Lamb. Well, we had a great time with it — as seen in our 8/10 review — and now those of you who had a blast summoning demons can bring a little bit of the Satanic joy to your homes.
Tthe Cult of the Lamb soundtrack is getting the ol’ vinyl treatment with pre-orders opening on the Devolver Digital merchandise store today. The soundtrack itself was perhaps one of the elements of the game that many overlooked — oh, how sacrificial rituals can distract the eye — but with its creepy chants and whispers building up to big boss fight tunes, the vinyl should provide a great (if not rather unsettling) listen.
The big selling point for us, however, is just how cool the cover art for the album looks. With a Midsommar-esque smiling lamb surrounded by flowers on the front, the sleeve opens to reveal a more horrific image of the scene on the inside. And the vinyl itself is red with blood splatters, because of course it is.
Previously sold out online, the above tweet also seems to suggest that the game’s adorable Lamb Plushie will also be getting a restock – so at least you’ll have something to hug onto while the soundtrack plays in the background.
Pre-orders on the vinyl will be going online today (Wednesday, 14th September) at 11am ET / 4pm BST / 5pm CEST. The pre-orders will be unlimited in their quantity, so if you want to get loaded up on gifts for all your fellow cult members, this is your chance. Plushie pre-orders will open at the same time, but will only be available for five days, closing on September 19th.
We can expect to see the items dispatched in 2023, giving us plenty of time to be summoned back into Cult of the Lamb until then. Otherwise, check out our interview with the developers to see what makes this game so fun and quirky:
