Pokémon Unite’s Halloween event offers players a chance at a newly added character plus some other spooky rewards. Here’s what you need to know.
Pokémon Unite‘s Halloween event brings some seasonal treats and a new trick that changes the game’s flow when participating in the holiday-themed Quick matches. Mainly revolving around pumpkins, players will find themselves collecting, tossing and, if they’re lucky, even wearing the orange gourds. The Halloween festivities are well worth a little time, as they’ll give players a chance to earn a Unit License for the newest roster addition and plenty of other goodies, but new players can’t immediately jump in. Here’s what to know about Pokémon Unite‘s Halloween Event.
Halloween festivities in Pokémon Unite will run from Oct. 20 to Nov. 7, introducing a variation of Mer Stadium for special Quick matches. The event matches update the locale for the season, adding pumpkins around every corner and looking a bit spookier than usual. Additionally, participating in the new Quick matches offers a chance at some pumpkins at the end of the game, which can be turned in for limited-time rewards.
How to Participate in Pokémon Unite’s Halloween Event
Players looking to jump into Pokémon Unite‘s October event will have to reach Trainer Level eight first. Quick matches are unlocked only after a player reaches this milestone, and the event is a part of this playlist. Once players are there, they can enter the 4v4 battle and prepare to toss gourds. Each player will have their Quick Item replaced with a pumpkin during the match. These pumpkins can be thrown at other Pokémon to damage wandering mobs and cover players, essentially turning them into a pumpkin for a short time. Allies can be targeted just like enemies, so players will want to be mindful of their aim.
Players will drop their collected Aeos energy when covered by a pumpkin and replace their abilities with a new “Pumpkin Push.” When activated, it’ll send the player bursting forward, bashing away anything that stands in front of them. Savvy players can use the new ability to give themselves a boost in the right direction or push enemies into their allies’ clutches, turning the impairment into an advantage.
What Rewards Are Available in Pokémon Unite’s Halloween Event?
After each Halloween match, players have a chance to earn some pumpkins to take with them. These can be used in the Pumpkin Exchange, located on the Events page after selecting your player portrait. In addition to those earned from matches, players can also bag some pumpkins by completing challenges and achieving log-in milestones from the same page. The Pumpkin Exchange’s most valuable reward is a Unit License for the new Defender Greedent, but players can also nab Battle Point Boost Cards and several cosmetic items.
Pokémon Unite‘s store also has some Halloween treats available for players to purchase. For Trainers, there’s a Costume Party Set plus a jack-o’-lantern backpack and mask being offered. For Pokémon, Lucario has a Zorro-themed “Costume Party-Style” Holowear option, but that’ll set players back $40 in Aeos Gems.
With the event running until the first week of November, players will want to jump right into Pokémon Unite‘s Halloween event if they want a chance at collecting enough pumpkins to purchase some high-tier rewards from the Pumpkin Exchange. The event is free for all players, but only if they’ve spent a little time getting the hang of the game before they can participate. If they can, players shouldn’t wait to enjoy some spooky fun and get some rewards all the while.
