Pokémon Legends Arceus: Arcanine Noble Boss Fight Guide

[ad_1]

The formerly timid Noble Arcanine brings the heat in this Pokémon Legends: Arceus battle, forcing players to watch their step as they quell his rage.

Arcanine is the third frenzied noble Pokémon players must calm in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. He is the new lord of the Pearl Clan who resides in the Cobalt Coastlands, and his warden is Palina. Different from the fan-favorite Kantonian Growlithe, the new Hisuian regional variant and its evolution are Fire/Rock-type Pokémon.

The fight against Arcanine builds upon the elements introduced in the previous boss battles against the noble Pokémon Kleavor and Lilligant. Arcanine has moves the player must dodge, but in this fight, the arena itself is also a hazard. Players must also work harder to wear Arcanine down, as he won’t present an opening for a Pokémon battle unless players disrupt one particular attack of his.

Breaking Down the Fight Against Arcanine

Pokémon Legends Arceus Noble Arcanine.

Arcanine is doubly more aggressive and energetic than he was as the little Growlithe pup who was overly-reliant on Palina. In this fight, he is level 36 and has three core moves, one of which the player needs to avoid to engage Arcanine in a Pokémon battle. During those portions of the fight, he will use the Rock-type move Rock Slide and the Fire-type move Raging Fury.

To begin the fight, Arcanine will pause and build up his energy as he prepares to sprint toward the player. Once he launches into a run, players must quickly dodge out of his way. The catch, however, is that the Molten Arena is an X-shaped landmass within a lava pool. Players need to watch where they roll and make sure not to trap themselves for Arcanine’s follow-up leap and heavy impact with the ground.

To break Arcanine’s concentration and initiate a Pokémon battle, players must throw balms at the enraged lord when he prepares a massive fireball attack. Five orbs will appear above his head, and they can only be destroyed by throwing balms at Arcanine. Failure to do so will see the lord unleash a devastating blast of fire that sends waves of flame rippling out across the whole arena.

Once Arcanine’s frenzy meter has reached the halfway point, Arcanine will leave a whirlpool of flames at the center of the arena in the wake of his leaping attack. If players struggle to hit Arcanine with balms from afar, it is possible to dodge through the flames at great cost to their health. As a general rule, players should avoid the flames.

Strategies for Defeating Arcanine

Golduck battles Noble Arcanine in Pokémon Legends: Arceus.

As a Fire/Rock-type Pokémon, Arcanine remains very weak to Water Pokémon. Those chose Oshawott as their starter will have an advantage during this fight, but even players who have not previously focused on catching Water Pokémon will have tons to choose from in the surrounding area. Players can find Psyduck in any of the three regions, and Shellos and Tentacool can be caught along the water route to Firespit Island.

Players can also find Mantyke and Spheal in the Cobalt Coastlands, but they are not good choices for this fight. Mantyke is part Flying and Spheal is part Ice, both of which are weak to Rock-type attacks. If they attack first they can deal significant damage to Arcanine, but they risk being knocked out in one hit from Arcanine’s Rock Slide.
