A trio of special in-game statues for Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are available for free for all players who purchased the games.
Trainers looking to decorate their Secret Base with limited-edition swag in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl should be sure to redeem the games’ latest free giveaway.
Spotted on an official Japanese Pokémon site by Serebii, the Mystery Gift distribution for a set of color statues is now active. For trainers who have unlocked the early-game Mystery Gift feature, entering the code “BDSPUNDERGROUND” will earn them color statues for the starter trio of Turtwig, Chimchar and Piplup. Players should note that although the code is universal it will only remain redeemable until the giveaway ends on May 31, 2022.
While trainers can only choose one of the Sinnoh starters at the beginning of their adventure in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, redeeming the giveaway will still provide color statues for all three pocket monsters. The statues can then be displayed in the Secret Base alongside various other treasures unearthed in the vast caverns of the Grand Underground.
While players may want to immediately access these features, neither the Mystery Gift mechanic nor the Grand Underground is accessible from the start of the game. To unlock the Mystery Gift feature as early as possible, players need to talk to the TV producer on the third floor of the TV station located in northern Jubilife City after the first gym battle. The Mystery Gift feature will then be unlocked after selecting the “everyone happy wi-fi connection” option. As for the Grand Underground, an Explorer Kit can be obtained from the “Underground Man” after the first gym. The NPC can be found in the building to the right of the Eterna City Pokémon Center where he’ll proceed to teach trainers the ways of a spelunking master.
Released earlier this month, Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are remakes of the original Generation IV games released in 2006 for the Nintendo DS. 15 years later, Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl bring an updated version of the games’ graphics, a number of new quality-of-life additions and a whole lot of nostalgia. Although some features such as the permanent EXP Share and a lack of content from Pokémon Platinum have sparked controversy among some of the playerbase, critics still generally enjoyed the remakes despite developer ILCA playing it safe.
Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are now available exclusively on Nintendo Switch.
