Bam Margera is filing a wrongful termination lawsuit against Paramount, Johnny Knoxville and Spike Jonze after being fired from Jackass Forever.
Paramount Pictures, Johnny Knoxville and director Spike Jonze have been hit with a wrongful termination lawsuit by Bam Margera after he was fired from Jackass Forever.
Variety reports Margera’s lawsuit states he was coerced into signing a “wellness agreement” by Jonze, Knoxville and director Jeffrey Tremaine while in rehab in 2019, on the grounds that if the agreement wasn’t signed, Margera would not appear in the fourth Jackass film. The actor claims he didn’t get the opportunity to have an attorney look over the agreement before he signed.
Other allegations in the suit list regular testing for drugs and alcohol, along with a prescription medication regime. Margera was fired from Jackass Forever in 2020 after allegedly testing positive for Adderall. However, he reportedly has been taking Adderall for 10 years with a prescription.
“Paramount’s inhumane treatment of Margera cannot be countenanced,” the suit states. “Margera was made to endure psychological torture in the form of a sham Wellness Agreement, and then ultimately terminated for his protected class status due to his medical condition, and his complaints about Defendants’ discriminatory conduct towards him.”
The first trailer for Jackass Forever brought the Jackass crew — minus Margera — back for some nostalgia with the franchise’s trademark stunts and gags. One outcome from the Jackass Forever trailer was PETA releasing a statement alleging animal cruelty.
Jackass Forever is slated for theaters on Oct. 22.
