The limited-edition chocolate Oreos will feature 16 unique Pokémon designs of varying rarity, including one elusive Mythical pocket monster.
Oreo, the beloved sandwich cookie brand, announces a collaboration with Pokémon, the hit role-playing game franchise and anime.
The Pokémon x Oreo Limited Edition Cookies will feature 16 unique designs baked into the wafers of the cookies. Based on the brief trailer, which features an original character trying to catch an incorrigible Pikachu, the Pokémon-themed Oreos include popular pocket monsters like Grookey, Jigglypuff, Lapras, Charmander and Dratini. Just like the video games, some Pokémon Oreos are rarer than others; one of the featured designs is Mew, a Mythical Pokémon, that will reportedly be very difficult to track down. Each packet will include an “assortment” of Pokémon-themed cookies, meaning fans have a higher chance of completing their collection.
Beyond the Pokémon designs embossed on the cookie, the actual Oreos won’t taste any different. “Each package of these supremely dunkable chocolate cookies contains OREO cookies with rich creme filling between the bold taste of two chocolate wafers that feature a fan favorite Pokémon,” reads the official description of the limited-edition product.
This isn’t the first time Oreo has hosted a major collaboration. In 2019 the cookie company announced a Game of Thrones crossover to celebrate the show’s final season. These unique wafers boasted the sigils of three of Westeros’ most powerful houses and the face of the Night King, leader of the White Walkers.
Pokémon fans looking to pick up the themed Oreos can order the cookies online or find them in participating stores. Neither The Pokémon Company nor Oreo has clarified when the crossover will come to an end.
