One Piece: 10 Ways Sanji Ruined His Likability

[ad_1]

Sanji is the Straw Hat Pirates’ cook and joined Luffy on his journey to become the Pirate King during One Piece’s Baratie arc. Being an Easy Blue recruit, Sanji is one of the most important characters in the story and his dream is to find the legendary ocean, the All Blue.

Aside from his importance to the crew as a cook, Sanji is also extremely powerful, and with Zoro and Luffy, makes up the infamous Monster Trio. Undoubtedly, Sanji is one of the most loved characters in the story among fans, however, just like all the other characters, he has a couple of flaws that affect his likability.

10 Sanji Is Known To Be A Jealous Person

It’s no secret that Sanji calls himself the love cook and he has certainly lived up to the reputation over the years. While most of his actions don’t bother fans much, at times, he shows way too much jealousy.

This was evident when Jinbe Joined the crew and Nami hugged him. Sanji, despite being with Nami for way longer and having a deeper relationship with her, couldn’t withstand seeing Jinbe treated with Nami’s affectionate side.

9 Sanji Was Rude To Momoiro Island’s People

During the two-year time skip, Sanji trained on Momoiro Island, which turned out to be an experience that he doesn’t want to recall. Sanji was met with many of the Newkamas who tried to get him into a dress.

However, the people of the island had no ill intentions towards Sanji. Yet, he was rude to them, at least initially. Even when Sanji returned to Sabaody Archipelago, the only person who he showed care towards was Ivankov.

8 Sanji Almost Died From Blood Loss On Fishman Island

Having been away from women for two years, Sanji’s weakness for women increased more than ever and he started losing blood at mere pictures of them. This, while funny initially, turned into a serious situation when Sanji was left on the brink of death by losing too much blood on Fishman Island.

Having just started the journey to the New World, it wasn’t impressive for him to have almost died so early and easily in the story.

7 Sanji Was Very Rude To Jinbe After He Told His Story

On Fishman Island, Jinbe explained how he was responsible for Arlong letting loose in the East Blue and thus, indirectly involved in causing Nami a lot of pain.

While Jinbe certainly had his reasons, he considered himself worthy of punishment, and Sanji, getting caught up in the moment, wanted him to pay with his life. It must be noted, however, that Sanji didn’t actually mean it but was instead worked up over what transpired. Thankfully, he was stopped by Nami, and Jinbe was forgiven immediately.

6 Sanji Was A Pervert In Nami’s Body

The Punk Hazard arc of One Piece saw Trafalgar Law switch the personalities of the Straw Hat Pirates with his Ope Ope no Mi powers and Sanji ended up in Nami’s body. As expected, Sanji tried to take full advantage of this opportunity by being a pervert.

Once again, this entire scene was meant to be a gag and not to be taken seriously but it certainly does affect Sanji’s likability by quite a margin among fans.

5 Sanji Attacked The Kyoshiro Family In Wano Country

Sanji was asked to sell Soba and spread the information about the raid on Onigashima on the night of the Fire Festival in Wano Country arc’s second act. The entire raid relied on the plan working flawlessly; however, Sanji and Franky caused quite a scene in the Flower Capital by fighting against the Kyoshiro Family and beating them up.

This alerted both Denjiro and Queen, who sent the Tobiroppo after Sanji shortly afterward.

4 Sanji Didn’t Finish Off Page One When The Two Fought

Sanji was the first member of the Straw Hat Pirates to clash with a Tobiroppo member in the Wano Country arc. Using the power of the Raid Suit, he was able to take on Page One without any trouble whatsoever and defeated him without too much effort.

Surprisingly, Sanji didn’t inflict any serious injury on him, which meant he participated in the war on Onigashima without any trouble.

3 Sanji Snuck In The Bathhouse In Wano Country

Sanji’s Raid Suit gave him the incredible ability to turn invisible and, as mentioned by him in the Thriller Bark arc, he had always dreamed of having this power. When he finally got his hands on it, he immediately decided to use it and sneak into a mixed bath where Nami and Robin went.

Funnily enough, Sanji being there worked in their favor as Basil Hawkins and X Drake attacked the place and he was able to take them to safety using his flight powers.

2 Sanji Falls Into Stupid Traps Very Easily

Time and again, it’s been proven quite easy to deceive Sanji with simple tricks when they involve women. This came into play once again in the Wano Country arc when he thought he heard a woman’s cry for help, only for it to be a trap for him set by Black Maria.

Sanji ended up taking quite a heavy beating as a result and had it not been for Robin and Brook, he wouldn’t have been able to escape her clutches and could potentially have died there.

1 His Gags Are Written To Be Annoying At Times

Just like most characters in One Piece, Sanji has his own set of gags and while they’re funny, sometimes Oda overdoes them. Sanji’s love for women often sees him ignore everything important. It goes without saying that Sanji always gets the job done in the end and he’s truly dedicated to making Luffy the Pirate King and even dying for him if need be, however, on occasions, his gag often paints him to be unserious.

Despite everything, Sanji’s gags are a very small part of his wonderful character and he remains one of Oda’s best creations to date.
