Star Wars: The Old Republic drops a trailer for the upcoming Legacy of the Sith expansion, teasing players with a quest for unimaginable power.
Bioware dropped a new trailer for Legacy of the Sith, the latest expansion for Star Wars: The Old Republic, setting up the quest players are about to embark upon.
The story trailer, which comprises of in-engine footage, features narration from Darth Malgus who muses on the nature of power and what it means to different organizations in the sprawling Star Wars universe. “The Jedi will tell you that to seek power is to embrace darkness. The Empire will tell you that power is a reward for deception,” notes Malgus. Beyond this, the trailer highlights the war players will be forced to join in Legacy of the Sith, showing how the different factions are attempting to win the day. It concludes with a small group of Jedi preparing to battle Malgus himself as the armored Sith Lord strides through the rubble of a collapsed monument.
Legacy of the Sith is the latest expansion for Bioware’s long-running Star Wars MMO RPG. As the ongoing war escalates, players are sent on a mission to find Darth Malgus and bring him to justice. This task will be easier said than done as the mighty warrior has only grown in strength since the last chapter in The Old Republic‘s expansive story. To track down their enemy, gamers will travel to the aquatic planet of Manaan, a location long-time fans will undoubtedly recognize. The expansion will also increase the maximum level cap by 5 for a new total of 80.
Bioware also noted that Legacy of the Sith will feature the toughest challenges yet included in The Old Republic. Players will embark on “new collaborative missions including a Flashpoint set in a mountaintop tomb on the remote planet Elom, as well as an Operation in the remains of a deep space research station.” Beyond these new quests, the update will also introduce a new Combat Style system to allow for more precise role-playing and personalized character creation.
Star Wars fans looking for even more video games set in the galaxy far, far away are in for a treat. LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga recently confirmed that it will finally launch on April 5 while Respawn Entertainment recently announced that it’s working on three new games in association with Lucasfilm. One of these is the highly-anticipated sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.
Star Wars: The Old Republic is available on PC. The Legacy of the Sith expansion launches in February 2022.
