No Way Home Promo Asks the Big ‘Spider-Babies’ Question

[ad_1]

In a new clip from Spider-Man: No Way Home, a crowd swarms Peter and MJ, with one stranger shouting a nosy (and icky) question about their love life.

A new TV spot for Spider-Man: No Way Home has an anonymous character asking a question that Peter Parker and his girlfriend MJ probably have no intentions of answering: Are they planning on having spider-babies together?

The Spanish-language promo, shared on Twitter via TikTok, is themed around “What It’s Like Dating Spider-Man.” Zendaya’s character MJ takes center stage, showing fans the less glamorous side of having a teenage superhero boyfriend. One aspect, apparently, is “Unwanted Attention,” and the point is illustrated with a clip of Tom Holland’s Peter in full costume holding MJ’s hand and trying to wade through a crowd of overly enthusiastic fans with her. One person — who is wearing a shirt with her face on it — yells, “MJ, are you gonna have his spider-babies?!”

The video makes a good case for how much MJ must care about Peter to put up with all the difficulties that comes with his life as Spider-Man. In addition to the unwanted attention, MJ has to deal with parental pressure, hanging out in secret lairs and constant motion sickness.

This last example, which is shown in the promo through a clip of Spider-Man swinging around the city with MJ held securely but uncomfortably in his arms, has an incidental connection to the real lives of the actors playing the pair. Zendaya has commented several times about her fear that Holland will feel sick and vomit inside his mask, and Holland has recently pointed out the real potential for danger if that were to happen. He cited a memory from filming Spider-Man: Homecoming in which his mask became drenched during a difficult scene, effectively waterboarding him.

Spider-Man: No Way Home opens immediately after the events of Far From Home and deals with Peter having his secret identity exposed to the world and framed for murder. He turns to Doctor Strange for help, but footage from No Way Home suggests that a bungled magic spell will open portals to different worlds in the multiverse, letting in villains from Sony’s Spider-Man and Amazing Spider-Man franchises to wreak havoc. There has also been much speculation about the stars of these series, each playing a previous incarnation of Peter Parker, appearing in the MCU.

Watch Peter and MJ grapple with all the unwanted attention, and perhaps discuss their future spider-babies, when Spider-Man: No Way Home hits theaters on Dec. 17.
