Spider-Man: No Way Home crosses another milestone at the domestic box office, making it the 10th highest-grossing film of all time.

Spider-Man: No Way Home breaks another box office record in its third week in theaters.

As reported by Variety, No Way Home has earned $609 million in the domestic box office, topping the North American box office for the third weekend in a row since it was released on Dec. 17. At the time of writing, the Tom Holland-led Spider-Man threequel is the 10th highest-earning North American release in history, surpassing Incredibles 2, which earned $608 million. The eight and ninth movies on that list are Star Wars: The Last Jedi, which earned $620 million, and 2012’s The Avengers, which boasts $623 million.

Since its release in theaters, Spider-Man: No Way Home has been consistently breaking previously established box office records. Recently, the Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures film passed the domestic box office total for Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight, which remains Warner Bros.’s highest-grossing film ever with $534.8 million. As for Sony Pictures, Spider-Man: No Way Home is officially the studio’s first film to clear $500 million at the stateside box office.

Spider-Man: No Way Home saw Tom Holland’s Web-Slinger not only take on the villains of the Sam Raimi and Marc Webb-helmed franchises but be joined by Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire’s respective Spider-Mans as well. Overall, No Way Home became the first pandemic-era film to earn over $1 billion in the global box office, after earning a whopping $587.2 million worldwide in its first weekend of release. The film’s opening day alone set a precedent for the subsequent records, becoming the second-highest opening day of all time behind Avengers: Endgame, which still remains the highest-grossing film ever. No Way Home‘s $121.5 million opening was not only the highest ever for a December release but is the highest-earning film in Sony’s Spider-Man franchise, with both 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming earning $117 million and 2019’s Spider-Man: Far From Home earning $92 million across a three-day period.

No Way Home may be a success financially, but it is also a hit with audiences and critics alike as the second-best reviewed MCU film on Rotten Tomatoes. No Way Home currently holds a 94% score on the Tomatometer with 332 reviews at the time of writing but debuted to a perfect score overall. The critical consensus calls the film a “bigger, bolder Spider-Man sequel [that] expands the franchise’s scope and stakes without losing sight of its humor and heart.”
