YouTuber Logan Paul has come under fire for turning a small collection of Game Boy Color handheld consoles into a decorative tabletop.
Paul posted a video of his build to social media, highlighting the process used to create the furniture. The footage sees the content creator layering fifteen Game Boys into a wooden frame before covering them in an epoxy resin. Fans were quick to criticize Paul’s handiwork, with many saying that the notorious YouTuber was responsible for “wasting” the devices. Many see the project as throwing away a beloved and iconic piece of gaming history by making the consoles unplayable. It’s currently unknown whether the handhelds were in a working condition.

This looks decently cool, but part of me is bothered how you just ruined 15 gameboy colors, some of which limited edition. They’re not that rare yet, but this sped up that process, and you could have probably made fake game boys that look like the same thing when in resin

While a physical Game Boy Color is still relatively easy to purchase through secondhand channels, fans of Nintendo’s retro catalog may soon be able to enjoy its library on the Nintendo Switch. A recent rumor suggests that Game Boy and Game Boy Color titles will soon be added to the Nintendo Switch Online collection. This follows the launch of the service’s Expansion Pack, which includes a selection of Nintendo 64 and SEGA Genesis titles which are only available to fans who pay a little extra.
