The Splatoon 3 Direct has revealed a series of new amiibo to accompany Nintendo’s upcoming game. The new collection will consist of three figures: Inkling (yellow), Octoling (blue) and Smallfry, and will be arriving “this holiday”.
Approaching Splatsville’s large amiibo box, as shown in the Direct, you can scan your Splatoon 3 amiibo figures to gain a variety of clothing functions.
The biggest takeaway from this is the ability to store whole outfits together. Ever wanted your avatar to be dressed exactly like your amiibo? A simple scan will allow you to save their gear combinations as Fresh Fits so you can easily swap out your look.
On top of this quick-change wardrobe, the new amiibos will also come with exclusive gear, so you can get your inky hands on certain items that will seemingly be impossible to come by otherwise.
Once you are all dressed up and ready to hit Splatsville, you will be able to grab in-game photos with your amiibo in a variety of poses (we expect to see the new dab emote used frequently in these selfies, even if dabbing seems a bit old hat in 2022). Wearing the exact same clothes as your amiibo and then snapping up photos together? Now that’s what we call #Twinning. Oh yes!
Aside from this new collection, some Splatoon 2 amiibo figures will be relaunching in line with the new game’s release. These re-releases will include the Callie and Marie two-pack as well as the Pearl and Marina two-pack for $24.99 each. The three new figures will be available in a pack or individually for $15.99 (or your regional equivalent).
The game is launching on 9th September, while the new amiibo are lined up for release “this winter”, so there’ll be a bit of a wait before you can get your hands on these NFC figures.
Which of the new amiibo are you shooting for first? Let us know in the comments below!
