Update: Nintendo’s Japanese Twitter account has reposted the video and, as we speculated, it ties into an article detailing past entries in the series on the series’ 35th anniversary — specifically, ‘Metroid Dread Report Vol. 4’, an online series of developer articles the company has been publishing in the run up to the new game’s release.

Original Story: Nintendo’s Japanese Twitter account briefly uploaded a previously unseen clip from the upcoming Metroid Dread which showed recreated elements from the ending of Metroid: Samus Returns.

The clip, now removed, featured recreated scenes from the ending of developer MercurySteam’s previous game in the series, the 2017 3DS remake of the Game Boy’s Metroid II: Return of Samus.

It may have been quickly deleted, but the internet never forgets! @itsa_me_gameboy on Twitter archived the clip — check it out below if you’re okay with potential spoilers:

Somebody has also found the same footage on Nintendo’s Japanese YouTube account set to unlisted (at a much higher quality, obviously). [UPDATE: as per the note at the top of the page, the video is part of the Metroid Dread Report Vol. 4] Again, minor spoiler alert if you’re on a Metroid Dread info blackout:
