FOX’s New Girl just might have saved the comedy sitcom genre for its moments of hilarity alone. New Girl focuses on the life of recently single Jess Day and her transition into living with four guys she meets on the Internet. Zooey Deschanel plays the lead role as Jess Day, and others like Jake Johnson and Max Greenfield join her.
Everyone in the loft has a completely different personality, which leads to many laughable scenes. Like most sitcoms, New Girl also features various celebrity guest appearances. The celebrity guest-stars bring on entertainment for viewers, and fans don’t know who will pop up next in an episode.
10 Jess and Cece Crash Prince’s Party
The late Prince was a prominent symbol in the music industry, so much so that he changed his name to a love symbol in 1993. Prince appears on the eponymous episode Prince during New Girl‘s third season. Best friends Jess and Cece get invited to a party at Prince’s mansion, but just as they start to leave, Nick drops the big L-word on Jess.
Prince ends up giving relationship advice to Jess and Nick, and debuts his new song Don’t You Wanna Fall In Love Tonight? “He’s a big fan of the show and he’s really interested in the Nick/Jess relationship and he wanted to be a part of that story,” states Jake Johnson in an interview with MTV News.
9 Josh Gad Plays The Hilarious Bearclaw
Josh Gad is well-known for voicing everyone’s favorite huggable snowman, Olaf, from the Frozen franchise. Gad plays a recurring role as Bearclaw in three episodes of New Girl. Bearclaw is first seen in Katie during season two. He works with Andy, who Jess is romantically interested in. However, Nick thinks Jess wants Bearclaw’s number instead of Andy’s, so Jess believes she’s texting Andy the entire time. Jess ends up lying to Bearclaw to get out of the date, and spends time with Sam instead.
8 Taylor Swift Appears In Season 2 Finale
Before Taylor Swift released her 10-minute version of All Too Well, she starred in an episode of New Girl. Swift plays Elaine during Elaine’s Big Day for the second season’s finale. Cece gets ready for her wedding with Shivrang, but they both call it off. Viewers realize Elaine is a longtime love interest of Shivrang, but they couldn’t be together because of their cultural differences. After the couple calls off the wedding, viewers assume Elaine and Shivrang get married.
7 Dylan O’Brien Plays Jess’ High School Prom Date
Dylan O’Brien rose to fame for his role as Stiles Stilinski throughout MTV’s Teen Wolf television series and as Thomas in the film adaptations of the Maze Runner book series. O’Brien also appears in a flashback during Virgins in the second season of New Girl. O’Brien is simply known as “The Guy”, who takes Jess to her high school prom. “Zooey Deschanel was great. They have a really great, warm cast and crew. It was a friendly work environment,” states O’Brien in an interview with JJJ.
6 Linda Cardellini Appears As Jess’ Sister
Viewers may recognize Linda Cardellini from her role as Lindsay Weir in the short-lived series Freaks And Geeks. However, she is best known for playing Velma Dinkley in the Scooby-Doo franchise. Cardellini appears as Jess’ wild sister, Abby Day, for three episodes throughout the third season of New Girl.
Abby makes her initial appearance in Sister, when Jess has to save her after an arrest in San Diego. Jess and Abby are incapable of getting along due to their differences. Jess welcomes Abby into the loft and Schmidt starts a fling with her. How scandalous.
5 Brenda Song Plays Winston’s Love Interest
Brenda Song became a household name for her role as the hotel heiress London Tipton in Disney Channel’s The Suite Life Of Zack & Cody. Song also appears as Daisy, a love interest of Winston’s, for four episodes of New Girl. Daisy makes her first appearance in Cooler during New Girl‘s second season.
Daisy helps Winston with his nerves around women when the pair meet at a bar. Daisy asks Winston to look after her cat for her, but Winston discovers Daisy is cheating on him. Winston responds by saying her cat deserves better than her, and ends up taking it.
4 Megan Fox Replaces Jess For 15 Episodes
Megan Fox quickly rose to fame for her breakthrough role as Mikaela Banes in the Transformers franchise. Fox also appears in more episodes than most guest-stars in FOX’s New Girl. Jess is sent away on jury duty, which is Zooey Deschanel’s maternity leave. Fox plays Reagan Lucas, who first appears in Reagan during New Girl‘s fifth season. Reagan and Nick develop a relationship during her stay at the loft, but end up parting ways 15 episodes later. Jess and Nick were meant to be anyways.
3 Adam Brody Plays An Ex of Jess
Adam Brody is well-known for his role as Seth Cohen in the 2000s teen drama series The O.C. Brody makes a cameo in Exes during the third season of New Girl. Jess tries to prove a point to the rest of the loft that exes can remain friends after breaking up. She invites her ex, Berkley (Adam Brody’s character). Berkley is now married with children, but to Jess’ surprise, he wants to break off his entire marriage to be with her.
2 Justin Long Plays An Awkward Music Teacher
Justin Long is known for his appearance in the 2004 film Dodgeball, and for voicing the squeaky chipmunk Alvin in Alvin And The Chipmunks. Long also guest-stars as the awkward Paul Genzlinger in four episodes of New Girl.
Genzlinger is a music teacher at Jess’ former school, who viewers initially meet in Thanksgiving during New Girl‘s first season. The guys in the loft believe that Jess and Paul are extremely alike, but the pair only date for a month. This is due to their awkwardness together, and Paul saying “I love you” too early for Jess.
1 Jamie Lee Curtis Plays Jess’ Mom
Jamie Lee Curtis is recognized for her role as Laurie Strode in the horror film franchise, Halloween. Curtis also appears in six episodes across different seasons of New Girl. Curtis plays Joan Day, the mother of Abby and Jess, and viewers initially meet her in Parents during New Girl‘s second season.
Jess shares a similar personality with her mother, but their fun-loving look on life clashes with her father, Bob. Rob Reiner plays Bob, the pessimist, in the same episode as Curtis. Joan greatly disapproves of Jess’ best friend Cece for various reasons.
