The CW reveals an official trailer for Nancy Drew Season 3 ahead of its October premiere.

The CW has revealed an official trailer for the upcoming third season of its take on Nancy Drew.

Nancy Drew Season 3 is slated to premiere on The CW in one month’s time on Oct. 8. The trailer teases that the titular sleuth is “back on the case,” with one stand-out moment being a tarot card reading. Nancy and her friends are informed that, “One of you will be the other’s demise, one of you will betray your true love, one of you will lose your heart.” The trailer also teases an apparent death-by-sleepwalking phenomena and, naturally, more murder.

The CW’s Nancy Drew premiered in October 2019, with its first season concluding in April 2020. Season 2 arrived this past January before concluding in June. In February, The CW confirmed that it had renewed Nancy Drew for a third season. A Tom Swift spinoff is also in the works at the network.

When Nancy Drew Season 2 wrapped up in June, executive producer Melinda Hsu Taylor revealed that Season 3’s premiere would check in with Nick following George’s marriage proposal. “Part of the premiere of Season 3, which we’re just writing now, is about exactly what’s going on in his head,” Taylor told TVLine. “It’s not too big a spoiler to say that wedding planning will be in the air. We’re not going to torture the audience. We also want to delve into what it’s like to be Nick, who had a youth that was cut short by time in prison, and who’s looking at his life ahead of him and his relationship with George. And George will have her own things to deal with. It may be that her long-absent father comes out of the woodwork when news of her impending wedding gets out on social media, that kind of thing. We’re definitely going to explore them as couples and as individuals.”

In the same interview, executive producer Noga Landau addressed Temperance and what her plans for Horseshoe Bay are. “Well, they’re not good,” Landau said. “Part of the fun of Season 3 is that her intentions run perfectly counter to what Nancy’s intentions for Horseshoe Bay are going to be. So we’re really pitting our Luke Skywalker against our Darth Vader, in that sense. It’s going to be so fun to see the conflict that brews between those two characters.”

Nancy Drew Season 3 premieres Friday, Oct. 8 on The CW.
