My Hero Academia: The 10 Best Decisions Bakugo Made, Ranked

[ad_1]

My Hero Academia‘s explosive support character is Katsuki Bakugo, a childhood friend of Izuku Midoriya’s and a top student at the U.A. school. In some ways, Bakugo is an impressive student, especially with his devastating Quirk and his good grades. He has an unsavory attitude, though, which holds him back somewhat. But it’s not all bad.

Bakugo may be petty and self-absorbed at times, but he is a smart kid with conviction, and he has made a number of smart and beneficial decisions over the course of My Hero Academia. Being himself, Bakugo usually makes these good decisions for his own sake, but he sometimes makes these choices for the benefit of his classmates and teammates to get the job done. These were ten times when Bakugo knew exactly what to do.

10 When Bakugo Agreed To Tutor Eijiro Kirishima For The Final Exams

One of Bakugo’s best friends is the tough-talking Eijiro Kirishima, whose Hero potential shines, but whose grades at school are mediocre at best. When the final exams drew near, some of Class 1-A’s students felt anxious, and Eijiro saw how his classmates were flocking to Momo Yaoyorozu for help.

Kirishima knew he could use someone to help him out too, and that someone was Katsuki Bakugo. Although Bakugo has a short temper even with his best friend, Bakugo graciously agreed to tutor Eijiro in private, and it paid off. Eijiro passed the written test along with the rest of the class.

9 When Bakugo Rejected The League Of Villains’ Offer To Join Them

At one point, Bakugo got himself captured, and he was held prisoner at the League of Villains’ hideout. But the League wasn’t aiming to torture him for information on U.A. or All Might. Instead, Tomura Shigaraki and his allies wanted to convince Bakugo to join them.

After all, Bakugo was a powerful and independent-minded person who clearly didn’t appreciate his fellow Heroes, so shouldn’t he become a Villain so he can make his own rules in life? Bakugo has the heart of a Hero, despite his unsavory attitude, and firmly rejected the offer. That was the right call.

8 When Bakugo Joined Kyoka Jiro’s Rock Band For The U.A. Festival

Not long after Overhaul’s defeat, the students of U.A. got ready for the school festival, and Kyoka Jiro applied her musical talents to form a rock band, with her as the lead vocalist and guitarist. The band needed a drummer, and incredibly, Katsuki Bakugo signed up.

Bakugo doesn’t usually do things for fun, being so fixated on becoming #1, but he really did know how to play the drums well, and he became a vital part of Class 1-A’s musical performance. That showed how cooperative and helpful Bakugo can be at times.

7 When Bakugo Designed His Costume With His Quirk In Mind

All students at U.A. must design their own Hero costumes, and many of these costumes are designed to maximize a Quirk’s effects or minimize its downsides. Katsuki Bakugo followed that trend with his own costume, giving himself grenade-shaped arm bracers that boost his combat capabilities.

Bakugo smartly designed those grenades to focus his Quirk’s explosive power and minimize the strain on his forearms. Those grenade-shaped bracers can also store Bakugo’s nitroglycerin sweat, giving him extra reserves of fuel when he needs a boost in battle.

6 When Bakugo Agreed To Keep The Truth Of One For All Secret

Bakugo grew ever more frustrated by Izuku’s incredible progress, and he also felt guilty about being the reason All Might had to exhaust himself in battle against All For One. So, Bakugo confronted Izuku one night on U.A.’s campus and got into a fight with him. Once the scuffle ended, All Might arrived.

All Might trusted Bakugo with the truth of One For All, and sure enough, Bakugo was smart enough to accept the truth and agree to keep it a secret. No way will Bakugo leak this info to any other party; he can be trusted, even if he still has many negative feelings about all this.

5 When Bakugo Resolved To Surpass All Might One Day

Bakugo and All Might

Izuku is a massive All Might fan, but he isn’t the only one. Ever since he was a little kid, Bakugo also deeply admired All Might, and never failed to cheer him on while watching him on the news. Bakugo decided early on that he would eventually surpass All Might, and become #1.

This is a rather lofty goal, but it’s not just vanity or arrogance on Bakugo’s part. Bakugo is quite talented, and he needs to set a high bar so he can challenge himself and bring out his true potential. Someone like Bakugo shouldn’t dream small.

4 When Bakugo Decided To Enroll At U.A.

There are a handful of superhero schools across Japan, including Ketsubutsu, Seiai Academy (anime only), and Shiketsu. But U.A. is the best of them, and Bakugo smartly chose U.A. as the school where he would get an education and realize his true potential. No other school would do.

Attending this school would put Bakugo in close proximity with his idol All Might, who soon became a teacher there. Being a U.A. student also put Bakugo into Shota Aizawa’s class, and Aizawa’s smart teaching methods are exactly what Bakugo needs to make progress.

3 When Bakugo Decided To Intern With Endeavor

This is one of Katsuki Bakugo’s most recent decisions, and as of this writing, Bakugo’s internship with the #1 hero, Endeavor, is ongoing. It’s not yet clear how all this will end, but so far, Bakugo’s progress is promising, and Endeavor is impressed.

Bakugo’s Explosion Quirk is similar to the fire powers that Endeavor and his son Shoto have, and that means Bakugo can learn all sorts of tricks from Endeavor. Already, Bakugo has learned how to zoom around much faster with his focused Explosion Quirk.

2 When Bakugo Appointed Himself His Team’s Leader Against Class 1-B’s Team

During the joint training arc with Class 1-B, Class 1-A’s students were challenged like never before. In fact, one of Class 1-B’s teams won a battle, and another team forced a draw. So, it fell to Katsuki Bakugo to put Class 1-A back on top, and he did.

Bakugo decided to become his team’s leader and primary fighter, and this tactical decision paid off right away. Bakugo trusted his three teammates to back him up, which they did, and Bakugo’s team won a stunning victory over Setsuna Tokage’s team in just under five minutes.

1 When Bakugo Decided To Help Izuku Fight All Might

Izuku and Bakugo had to fight their idol, All Might, to pass a practical exam. These were steep odds, even with a handicap in place, and worse yet, Bakugo didn’t want to cooperate with Izuku at all. Bakugo wrongly thought that he could win alone, and he was too stubborn and vain to listen to Izuku’s protests.

Eventually, Bakugo changed his mind, and just in time. All Might’s incredible power convinced Bakugo to change tactics, and he set aside his pride and coordinated closely with Izuku to scrape a narrow victory. This was a turning point for both Bakugo and Izuku, steering their rivalry in a healthier direction and proving that Bakugo is capable of teamwork.
