Monster Hunter Rise is finally making its way to PC after nearly a year as a Nintendo Switch exclusive, but will your hardware be able to handle it?
The hunt will soon be on for PC gamers when Monster Hunter Rise leaps onto Steam Store on January 12. After being a Nintendo Switch exclusive since its March 2021 launch, Monster Hunter Rise will finally be able to benefit from the technical power personal computers can offer, such as 4K resolution support. However, since PC specs and vary and AAA games are increasingly demanding, some may be concerned that their hardware won’t be able to support one of Capcom’s latest hits.
Capcom has confirmed Monster Hunter Rise‘s PC specs, and they aren’t particularly demanding, which isn’t much of a surprise considering the game was built to run on the underpowered Switch. However, those who want to play the game on higher settings with a better resolution and increased framerate will need a bit more power than those who are fine with running the game on Low settings.
Monster Hunter Rise’s CPU Requirements
Capcom recommends an Intel Core i5-4460 or AMD FX-8300 processor for Monster Hunter Rise, a target most gaming PCs should be able to hit with little to no issue. In comparison, another recent Capcom hit Resident Evil Village requires a stronger processor, and Rise‘s CPU recommendation is lower than that for Street Fighter V. As for the minimum CPU requirement, Monster Hunter Rise needs at least an Intel Core i3-4130 or Core i5-3470 or AMD FX-6100. Similar to the recommended specs, this CPU is slightly lower than Street Fighter V‘s minimum requirements to run.
Monster Hunter Rise’s GPU Requirements
In regards to graphics, Capcom recommends at least a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 (VRAM 3GB) or AMD Radeon RX 570 (VRAM 4GB) for an optimal experience. This recommendation is similar to Capcom’s recommendation for run Resident Evil Village, and it’s higher than the graphical requirements for Street Fighter V.
However, there is still hope for PC gamers whose hardware doesn’t reach this technical milestone, as the minimum GPU requirement for Monster Hunter Rise is NVIDIA GeForce GT 1030 (DDR4) or AMD Radeon RX 550. These are lower than the minimum requirements for Resident Evil Village and lower than the recommendation for Street Fighter V. While Rise can be graphically impressive, there’s still plenty of range in terms of settings that’ll allow more gamers to experience it.
Monster Hunter Rise’s RAM and Storage Requirements
Finally, PC gamers will need at least 23GB of storage available to download Monster Hunter Rise, as well as 8GB of memory RAM for both the minimum specifications and what Capcom recommends. The memory requirement is lower than the average 16 GB recommendation most games suggest, and it’s on par with Resident Evil Village‘s minimum requirement and Street Fighter V‘s recommended.
Overall, any PC that can run Resident Evil Village or other current generation games should have no problem with Monster Hunter Rise. However, thanks to the game’s wide range of graphical settings, just about any PC gamer should be able to take their Palico and friends on their next hunt.
