Next week AHOY Comics will release Edgar Allan Poe’s Snifter of Death #6. The final issue of the latest Poe-inspired horror anthology series features a pair of terrifying tales. Ahead of the issue’s release, AHOY has released a preview of one of those stories, “Putting the ‘D’ in ‘DC,’” from writer Brian Schirmer, artist Ryan Kelly, colorist Paul Little, and letterer Rob Steen.
Here’s how AHOY describes Edgar Allan Poe’s Snifter of Death #6, which sports a cover by Richard Williams:
Last issue! Our anthology theme this month is, “Complaining and Whining About How Terribly Public Life is Going!” First, a demon drags Poe through the hellish nightmare landscape we call the Internet, in “Silence – A Fable.” THEN! The American people elect a new President—Death itself, in “Putting the D in DC.” All this plus prose, pix, and possibly, poems!
Schirmer, Kelly, Little, & Steen’s story is joined in the issue by another short comic, “Silence: A Fable,” from Snelson writer Paul Constant, artist John Lucas, colorist Felipe Sobreiro, and letterer Steen. The issue also features a trio of prose stories by Austin Wilson, Tim Hamilton, and Carl Cafarelli, with illustrates by Peter Bagge, Hamilton, and Elliott Mattice, respectively.
The Edgar Allan Poe’s Snifter series has been utterly delightful, filled, as most of AHOY’s books are, with smart satire and laugh-out-loud humor. “Putting the ‘D’ in ‘DC’” looks to carry on that tradition, taking a sharp look at how people engage with politics and government by pushing it to a hilariously illogical extreme.
Check out the five-page preview of Edgar Allan Poe’s Snifter of Death #6 below. The climactic issue of the series arrives in stores and digitally next Wednesday, March 30th.
