The Marvel Cinematic Universe has continued to grow and expand since it first launched in 2008 with Iron Man, with each entry contributing to a larger story while also exploring the solo characters that make up some of the MCU’s most powerful heroic teams and their related characters from the comics.

10 Darcy Lewis Earned An Ongoing Role In The MCU After Appearing In Thor
2011’s Thor from director Kenneth Branagh brought the Asgardian Thunder God to Earth after he was banished by his father Odin, which is where he first met his love Jane Foster and her intern Darcy Lewis, who was played by Kat Dennings.
Lewis returned in 2013’s Thor: The Dark World to help stop the Convergence of the Nine Realms, though she didn’t return for Ragnarok. However, Dennings’ unique humor and Lweis’ scientific skillset led to her appearance in WandaVision on Disney+, where the character continued to steal the show as she worked with S.W.O.R.D. to solve the mystery of the Hex.
9 Luis Is Still One Of The Most-Loved Characters From Ant-Man
Michael Peña played the character of Luis in 2015’s Ant-Man from director Peyton Reed, who quickly became a favorite among fans of both the movie and the MCU in general thanks to his unique ability to tell stories.
Luis is an ex-con and best friend of the second Ant-Man Scott Lang, which leads the two friends to go into business together as a security company in the sequel. Luis is such a hit among MCU fans that there have been many calls and memes requesting that Luis be brought in to recap the events of previous movies when needed.
8 Ned Became The Favored “Guy In The Chair” In Spider-Man: Homecoming
Following Tom Holland’s debut as Peter Parker/Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War, the character was given a new beginning in the MCU with his solo movie from director Jon Watts, 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming. The reimagined Peter Parker came with a brand new best friend named Ned Leeds, who was played hilariously by Jacob Batalon.
Ned soon learned Peter’s secret and became his “guy in the chair” to help out on missions, which made him the perfect partner for Spider-Man who returned to steal the show in 2019’s Spider-Man: Far From Home with his brief relationship with Betty Brant.
7 Okoye Quickly Became A Fan-Favorite After Her Debut In Black Panther
Danai Gurira first appeared as fierce warrior Okoye in 2018’s Black Panther, which revealed she was the leader of the elite Wakandan security force known as the Dora Milaje who served as the personal protector of her king, T’Challa/Black Panther.
Okoye’s dedicated loyalty to the throne saw her abandon T’Challa in order to protect the new king Killmonger, though she turned on him to save Wakanda. Okoye won over fans with her sarcasm and amazing fighting skills that made her one of the most dangerous women in Wakanda. Okoye would later join the Avengers in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame to further steal the show.
6 Valkyrie Took The Spotlight And Later The Throne In Thor: Ragnarok
2017’s Thor: Ragnarok from director Taika Waititi relaunched the franchise with a new comedic angle that impressed a number of fans and made the movie the biggest success in Thor’s entire MCU franchise thanks to the new direction and a few new characters. Tessa Thompson joined the cast and first appeared as Scrapper 142 before it was revealed she was the last Asgardian Valkyrie.
She returned to her role as Valkyrie to fight alongside powerful heroes like Thor, Hulk and Loki while her unique sense of humor made her stand out in a line-up of gods. Valkyrie returned in Avengers: Endgame to fight alongside the Avengers in the final battle before she took command of New Asgard.
5 Agent Jimmy Woo Wowed In His First Appearance In Ant-Man And The Wasp
Fans of WandaVision on Disney+ tuned in for a number of reasons, which included the interesting use of classic sitcoms as well as the return of favorites like Scarlet Witch and Vision, though it was secondary characters like the aforementioned Darcy Lewis and Randall Park’s Agent Jimmy Woo that really stole the show.
Agent Woo first appeared in 2018’s Ant-Man and The Wasp as Scott Lang’s handler while he was on house arrest, though his loveable humor made him a hit among fans who can’t wait to see him return in later phases of the MCU.
4 M’Baku Impressed Fans And The Wakandan Royal Family In Black Panther
While he was originally known as the villainous Man-Ape in the comics, the character of M’Baku was reimagined by director Ryan Coogler for Black Panther which saw Winston Duke take on the soon-to-be fan-favorite role.
M’Baku made his debut as a challenger to the throne of Wakanda and an enemy of T’Challa, though he won over both the Wakandan Royal Family and the audience to become a much-needed ally. The character would then join the fight against Thanos in Avengers: Endgame to further showcase M’Baku’s lasting impact on fans.
3 The Alien Warrior Named Korg Hilariously Stole The Show In Thor: Ragnarok
Thor found himself imprisoned on the planet Sakaar as a gladiator during the events of Thor: Ragnarok, which is where he first met fellow prisoner and combatant Korg, an alien Kronan warrior who was voiced by the movie’s director, Taika Waititi.
Like most of the movie, Korg was given a comedic reimaging from the original comic character that appeared in Planet Hulk, which made him an instant hit with fans who remained at Thor’s side for a hilarious follow-up appearance in Avengers: Endgame.
2 Goose Was An Alien Flerken Who Stole Nick Fury’s Heart (& Eye) In Captain Marvel
Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck directed 2019’s Captain Marvel, which took place during the 90s and starred MCU mainstay Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury alongside Brie Larson as Carol Danvers in the titular role, though both characters were overshadowed by the loveable cat named Goose that they encountered at the Project P.E.G.A.S.U.S. research facility.
While cute cats already get an edge, Goose was revealed to actually be an alien Flerken who managed to win over the audience and even Nick Fury, though he also took Fury’s eye and became a loveable part of MCU history.
1 Yelena Belova’s Sense Of Humor Won Over Fans In Black Widow
While Black Widow sacrificed herself in Avengers: Endgame to help save the day, the character returned in her own solo movie in 2021 from director Cate Shortland which explored her past with the Red Room and introduced her “sister” and fellow Widow, Yelena Belova.
Belova was played by Florence Pugh in Black Widow and had a unique sardonic wit that challenged her older sister and showcased her unique personality that stole the movie, which set the character up for a larger future in the MCU to help fill the hole left by the loss of Black Widow.
