These characters have a variety of powers and skills that allow them to be proficient in all kinds of situations and have let them have some pretty significant wins.

10 Iron Man Combines Power And Brains Skillfully

Iron Man in MCU walking away from explosion

Throughout his tenure in the MCU, Iron Man pretty much carried everyone on his back. His first movie’s successes created the whole thing and just about every time he showed up, he saved the day. He wasn’t the most powerful Avenger but his brains allowed him to create armor and devices that more than made up for it.

In combat, he was strong, fast, and able to hit hard from afar. What he lacked in technical fighting skill, he made up for with tenacity. Iron Man’s diverse abilities allowed him to bring the fight to the Avengers’ enemies, all the while figuring out a way to outsmart them.

9 Captain Marvel May Be A Powerhouse But Her Variety Of Powers Mixed With Her Skills Make Her Good At Everything

Captain Marvel was sold to fans as one of the most powerful MCU heroes of them all and she proved that in Avengers: Endgame, going up against Thanos on her own. Her first solo movie also proved that on top of being powerful, she was also an extremely skilled pilot and learned black ops tactics while working with the Kree. All of this combined makes her one of the skilled heroes in the MCU.

Captain Marvel can do it all. She can punch it out with the powerhouses, fly through space at greater than light speed, and fight the most skilled soldiers to a standstill. She is way more of a balanced fighter than she has any right to be.

8 Gamora Is The Most Dangerous Woman In The Universe

Gamora on Peter's ship

Gamora isn’t the strongest. She isn’t the fastest. She’s not the smartest. While she’s not the best at anything, it’s okay because she’s amazing at everything. She’s smart enough to change plans on the fly and has a great grasp of solo and team tactics. She’s earned her moniker as the universe’s most dangerous woman.

Gamora is the epitome of a balanced fighter. She’s a jack of all trades who earned the respect of her adoptive father Thanos, which is saying something. Even foes who have her beat in multiple ways still have pretty much no chance against her.

7 Thanos Is Way More Balanced Than People Want To Believe

People look at Thanos and see the ultimate powerful villain, even without the Infinity Gauntlet. There’s definitely some truth to that, as this is a guy who can take shots from the Hulk and Thor and keep coming. Just thinking of him as a powerhouse is doing him a grave disservice, though.

Sure, Thanos is strong but he’s also a great fighter and a shrewd tactician. He has a wide base of knowledge and while that’s sometimes colored by his negative way of looking at the universe, it’s hard to deny just how good at everything Thanos truly is, even without an object of ultimate power.

6 Loki Is One Of The Most Skilled Asgardians Of Them All

The power of the Asgardians in the MCU is way less than in the comics, but they make up for it in other ways. Of all the Asgardians, the one with the best balance of abilities is probably Loki. He’s not as strong as his brother, but he can hold his own. He’s not as skilled a fighter as Hela, but he’s pretty good. His magic isn’t Odin or Doctor Strange level, but he uses it well.

Loki knows how to use his skills in concert very well and likes to push the buttons of his opponents, making them sloppy. He’s a smart fighter; he knows what he can and can’t do, using his skills to perfection.

5 Sylvie Was Able To Survive For Years Against The TVA’s Hunters

Sylvie at the TVA

As good as Loki is, Sylvie is better. Sure, Loki had to deal with his brother and the Avengers but Sylvie was up against the TVA, an organization that had the best technology and information in the universe. She had to develop some very specific skills to survive as long as she did, her skills at subterfuge putting her up there with the top spies in the Marvel Universe.

Sylvie’s fighting skill, strength, and magic made her formidable but the skills she picked up after spending decades on the run made her one of the most balanced beings in the MCU. Anyone who can stay ahead of the TVA is impressive.

4 Black Widow Survived For Years In The Black Ops World

While it’s safe to say that Marvel Studios bungled Black Widow’s character arc, there’s no denying just how skilled she truly was. Given physical enhancements in the Red Room, Black Widow was easily one of the most dangerous people on Earth. Black Widow was good at everything.

She was a great spy, a cunning fighter, and could clear a room of combatants by herself in minutes. She was remarkably tough, able to take a ton of damage and keep fighting. She even proved to be a great administrator, running the Avengers after the Snap as they did their best to maintain order.

3 Black Panther Is The Best Of The Best

MCU Black Panther

The heart-shaped herb gives him remarkable physical abilities, his armor and tech rival that of Iron Man, and he’s a born leader and tactician. Black Panther did it all with style and aplomb, catapulting to the top of the MCU.

His What If… episode proved that even without all of the trappings of power that being King of Wakanda gave him, he was still the best of the best. Black Panther would still be able to do it all, even without the advantages of royalty.

2 Steve Rogers Was The Consummate Superhero

While many MCU characters changed a lot, Steve Rogers didn’t. He was always a morally upright man and that informed everything else he did. The supersoldier serum made him into a physical titan but it was his own wherewithal that allowed him to master the skills he needed to become Captain America, one of the greatest heroes of them all.

Steve was great at defense and offense, as well as an amazing leader. He could take insane amounts of damage and keep coming and was the best tactician the team had to offer. He was even worthy of Mjolnir. Steve could do it all.

1 Captain America Proved To Himself That He Was Worthy Of Holding The Shield But Everyone Already Knew He Would Be

Sam Wilson started out as Falcon, mastering flight and using his skills as a soldier to earn his place as an Avenger. After being given Cap’s shield, he gave it up because he thought he wasn’t worthy of it. This would prove to be untrue, as he quickly proved that he was better than the man who tried to replace Cap.

Sam practiced, learning how to combine the shield with the skills he already had. He proved to be an amazing fighter, using his wings and the shield to great effect. He’s quickly become one of the top heroes of the MCU and a perfect Captain America. Cap has some big shoes to fill but he’s proven that he’s more than capable of doing so.
