McFarlane Toys Releasing ‘The Princess Bride’ Line of Figures

McFarlane Toys has released action figures based on The Princess Bride, and if you’re a fan of the film, you’ll want them all. The toy company has just given us our first look at a new action figure collection inspired by the film, which includes highly detailed versions of four fan favorites. More information on the figurines’ specifics has yet to be published, however all four can be seen in a new photo released by McFarlane Toys.

Todd McFarlane’s photo features four characters: Westley as Dread Pirate Roberts (Cary Elwes), Fezzik (Andre the Giant), Princess Buttercup (Robin Wright), and Inigo Montoya (Mandy Patinkin). They even come with extras, such as a small (for him) rock for Fezzik. It’s unclear whether additional figures will be produced in the future, though it would be nice given the absence of a few key characters. Of course, how well these toys sell depends on how well they sell, and we’ll learn more about them shortly.

The Princess Bride is a 1987 film directed by Rob Reiner and written by William Goldman. The film follows a farmhand named Westley and the characters he meets along the road in his journey to save his true love Princess Buttercup from Prince Humperdinck. It has become one of the most acclaimed fantasy films in history While The Princess Bride was not a box office success at the time, it has now become one of cinema history’s most cherished fantasy films.
