The deadly hybrid known as Weapon H and the symbiote Anti-Venom return as part of an all-new super team in a cryptic teaser from Marvel.
Marvel’s Weapon H — a cross between the Hulk and Wolverine — and the symbiote Anti-Venom are back, seemingly working alongside each other in a new mystery project.
The two anti-heroes were featured in recently released art by Giuseppe Camuncoli (Superior Spider-Man, Hellblazer) along with the cryptic phrase “The all-new.” The teaser suggests that more pieces of art, as well as other characters, will soon be revealed by Marvel as part of a new super team. When these details can be expected has yet to be confirmed.
Weapon H, formerly known as Clayton Cortez, first appeared in 2017’s Totally Awesome Hulk #21 and was created by Greg Pak and Mike Deodate Jr. A marine who refused to participate in a massacre and killed his fellow troops instead, Cortez was sold to the Weapon X project for experimentation. He was ultimately transformed into a hybrid superhuman who boasted both Hulk’s strength and the Adamantium claws of Wolverine. Following his debut, Weapon H received a 12-issue solo series, which was published in 2018, that saw the character go on the run from the military and face off against Wendigo.
Anti-Venom, the other member of what could be a dynamic duo, was created by Dan Slott and John Romita Jr. and first appeared in 2008’s The Amazing Spider-Man #569. The fusion between fragments of an alien symbiote and the white blood cells of the original Venom host, Eddie Brock, Anti-Venom boasts powerful healing capabilities and has no consciousness of its own, allowing its host to completely control it. The Anti-Venom symbiote later bonded with Flash Thompson after it was separated from Eddie, melding together into the hero known as Agent Anti-Venom.
Marvel has yet to disclose when fans can expect this new team-up to hit shelves but more information will likely be revealed in the coming months.
