A new Marvel Studios What If…? fan art brings to life the iconic Thanus theory, which once sparked the creation of many memes across social media.
With the release of the Disney+ What If…? series, fans have started to create fan art that highlights new Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) timelines and brings iconic theories to life. The latest piece to hit social media features a popular theory that truly bummed fans when it never made it to the big screen.
Twitter user Nikolay Mochkin created a What If…? image that brings to life one of Endgame‘s classic theories — the theory that Ant-Man would stop Thanos by crawling up the Mad Titan’s butt.
The Ant-Man/Thanos theory, also known as “The Thanus theory” began circulating back in 2018, after the release of Avengers: Infinity War. After seeing the words “Thanos will return” at the end of the film, fans began theorizing how the Mad Titan could be stopped. They took to Reddit to share these ideas and one of the most popular theories suggested that Ant-Man would shrink to ant-size, crawl into Thanos through his backside and expand in size, thus killing the greatest villain of the MCU.
The hilarious theory recirculated across social media after Mochkin’s latest fan art. The artwork is also perfectly timed as Josh Brolin returned to voice Thanos in What If…?‘s latest episode. In this episode, Marvel revealed a world where Yondu takes T’Challa in as a Ravager, rather than Peter Quill. T’Challa then recruits Thanos as a Ravager after convincing him to ditch his plans of genocide.
New episodes of Marvel Studios’ What If…? debut Wednesdays on Disney+.
