Devil’s Reign gives Doctor Octopus a new super team while Luke Skywalker works towards the rank of Master in next Wednesday’s Marvel releases.
Star Wars and tie-ins to the latest Daredevil-centric event lead next week’s releases from Marvel Comics.
In Devil’s Reign, Doctor Octopus was given access to the Baxter Building — home to all of the Fantastic Four’s technology — at the end of the series’ second issue, assembling variants of himself from across the Multiverse for plans that he claims to be “superior” to Kingpin’s current war against superheroes. The statement is a nod to Doc Ock’s time as a web-slinging hero in The Superior Spider-Man, with one of the first tie-in miniseries to release for the current event being Devil’s Reign: Superior Four #1. Coming out on Wednesday, the title stars the Spider-Man villain and a team of amalgam characters, specifically Ock crossed with the Hulk, Ghost Rider and Wolverine.
Marvel’s Star Wars series also hits Issue #20, next week, continuing Luke Skywalker’s journey to become a Jedi Master between the events of Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back (1980) and Episode VI – Return of the Jedi (1983). The last issue saw Luke retrieve a holocron containing recorded teachings from Yoda, who trained the young rebel on Dagobah during The Empire Strikes Back.
For Devil’s Reign, other tie-ins dropping next week include Daredevil: Woman Without Fear #1, pitting Elektra against Kraven the Hunter, and Spider-Woman #18. The galaxy far, far away will also deliver Star Wars: Bounty Hunters #20 and Star Wars: The High Republic – Eye of the Storm #1.
