Marvel’s Shang-Chi Unleashes Lethal Character Posters

[ad_1]

New Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings movie posters feature Shang-Chi alongside friends and enemies while promoting its September release.

The cast of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings just received their promotional photo-ops.

The Shang-Chi Twitter page unveiled a series of movie posters, writing “Check out the brand-new character posters for Marvel Studios’ [Shang-Chi] and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Experience it in theaters September 3!” These images not only include Simu Liu’s protagonist, but also Shang-Chi’s allies, family members and adversaries posing dramatically against a series of backgrounds. Amongst the notable poster faces include his friend Katy (Awkwafina), sister Xialing (Meng’er Zhang), father Wenwu (Tony Leung), Michelle Yeoh’s Jiang Nan and the Ten Rings warrior Death-Dealer.

Alongside its main cast, Shang-Chi‘s trailers have teased the return of some old faces from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Doctor Strange‘s Benedict Wong will reprise his role as the sorcerer Wong and was briefly seen in a cage fight against The Incredible Hulk‘s Abomination, who proceeds to knock Wong against a wall. Abomination was also included in the background of a multi-character poster, though there’s no confirmation that Tim Roth will voice him again in the movie. A recent featurette expanded upon the cage fight sequence by teasing a one-on-one battle between Shang-Chi and Xialing.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings will see the titular character confront his criminal father, also known as the Mandarin, after more than a decade living on his own. A version of the Ten Rings organization was first introduced in Iron Man as the terrorist organization that kidnapped Tony Stark, in turn causing the explosion that permanently damaged his heart. While it’s unknown if Shang-Chi will reference this particular event, the trailers have teased a confrontation between Shang-Chi and Wenwu over the latter’s Ten Rings, depicted in the film as energy-manipulating weapons wrapped around the user’s arm.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings was directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and written by Daniel Callaham. The upcoming film stars Simu Liu, Tony Leung, Awkwafina and Michelle Yeoh and is scheduled to hit theaters on Sept. 3. It was originally scheduled to premiere on Feb. 12, but was forced to delay due to the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, along with a slew of other films.
