Marvel Studios’ upcoming Disney+ original series Ironheart debuts a new logo, which takes the armored superhero’s name to heart.
Marvel Studios has debuted a new logo for its upcoming Disney+ original series Ironheart.
Revealed as part of Disney+ Day, the new Ironheart logo takes its lead hero’s name to heart, featuring the show’s title — written in white letters — against a silver, metallic heart. This marks a significant departure from the Disney+ series’ previous logo, which featured a similar font and red and yellow color scheme as those used for the logos of Marvel’s Iron Man films.
Created by Brian Michael Bendis, Mike Deodato, Eve Ewing and Kevin Libranda, the character of Riri Williams/Ironheart made her first full appearance in Invincible Iron Man #9, which was published by Marvel Comics in 2016. She has since gone on to star in multiple solo titles, as well as become a key member of the Champions alongside the likes of Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel, Miles Morales/Spider-Man and Sam Alexander/Nova. Riri has also factored into some major Marvel story arcs such as “Secret Empire” and “Iron Man 2020.”
In the comics, Riri is a teenage engineering student who — following the death of her father, Demetrius “Riri” Williams Sr. — lives with her mother Ronnie and aunt Sharon in Chicago. While attending the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Riri manages to create an Iron Man-esque suit of armor using material stolen from the campus. While Riri’s exploits initially land her in hot water, the original Iron Man himself, Tony Stark, comes to endorse her role as the world’s latest armored superhero.
It was first reported back in May of 2020 that Marvel Studios was developing live-action Ironheart series for the Disney+ streaming service. Marvel boss Kevin Feige confirmed as much several months later at Disney Investor Day in December, with Dominique Thorne being cast in the lead role of Riri Williams, “the creator of the most advanced suit of armor since Iron Man.” Chinaka Hodge (Snowpiercer, Amazing Stories) serves as head writer on the series, which is slated to run for six episodes.
Before Ironheart premieres, however, Thorne is set to make her Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in director Ryan Coogler’s upcoming film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, the sequel to 2018’s Black Panther. Wakanda Forever is currently scheduled for release on Nov. 11, 2022. In addition to Thorne, the film stars Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Angela Bassett, Isaach de Bankolé, Dorothy Steel and Michaela Coel.
