Marvel’s solicitation for December’s Star Wars: The High Republic promises a major reveal about Trandoshan Jedi Master Sskeer.
Marvel Comics is teasing a major revelation involving Star Wars: The High Republic‘s resident Trandoshan Jedi, Sskeer.
According to Marvel’s solicitation for December’s Star Wars: The High Republic #12 by Cavan Scott and Georges Jeanty, the Jedi of the High Republic will continue their hunt for Lourna Dee and prepare for war. Marvel also promises that “The truth about Sskeer is finally revealed – but what does it mean for his future?”
Sskeer was one of many new Jedi introduced as part of Star Wars: The High Republic. The character is a Trandoshan, much like the fan-favorite bounty hunter Bossk, and he notably trained Padawan Keeve Trennis in the ways of the Force. However, Sskeer lost one of his arms and his close friend, Jedi Master Jora Malli, who was killed in a battle against the Nihil. This left him deeply traumatized and opened the door for the dark side to attempt to seduce him.
Though Sskeer ultimately remained on the side of the light, he was infested by the plant-like Drengir but was able to separate himself from the infestation. He would go on to be instrumental in defeating the enemy, allowing the Jedi to redirect their focus on the Nihil.
Announced in February 2020, The High Republic takes place 200 years before the Skywalker Saga, when the Jedi Order was in its prime. The event kicked off in early 2021 and currently spans numerous novels and comic book titles from the likes of Marvel and IDW Publishing.
