The latest cinematic trailer for Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy highlights Cosmo, a telepathic dog who’s also the Head of Security at Knowhere.
The latest trailer for Eidos Montreal’s Guardians of the Galaxy game highlights Cosmo, the adorable telepathic space dog.
The cinematic clip sees the Guardians, consisting of Star-Lord, Gamora, Rocket Racoon, Drax and Groot, meeting with Cosmo. As the head of security on Knowhere, Cosmo is caught in a difficult situation as he attempts to wrangle his litter of puppies, all sporting adorable space suits of their own. While the context isn’t provided, Peter Quill offers to help in investigating what seems to be a serious matter. While holding their discussion, Cosmo is seen behaving like a normal dog; he chases his tail and plays with his favorite ball. The scene ends on a cliffhanger as Rocket and Cosmo clash on whether the Guardians will intervene in his situation.
The extent of Cosmo’s presence in Guardians of the Galaxy is currently unknown. Some fans believe the adorable mind-reading creature will be a recruitable NPC, able to join Star-Lord’s posse at some point in the game. “Cosmo is many things: a telepathic dog, a loving dad to wonderful puppies, the Chief of Security in Knowhere and… angry with the Guardians of the Galaxy! Things are about to get ruff,” reads the video’s description.
Cosmo isn’t the only supporting Marvel character to appear in Guardians of the Galaxy. Previous trailers reveal that characters like Lady Hellbender, Mantis and the Worldmind will appear throughout the story. The Universal Church of Truth, headed up by Grand Unifier Raker, will seemingly be the game’s main antagonists as the Guardians attempt to dismantle what they see as a cult.
Guardians of the Galaxy places players in the stylish boots of Star-Lord as he attempts to govern his ragtag group of heroic outlaws. During combat, Star-Lord will dart around the battlefield, using his dual elemental blasters to dispatch his foes. He’ll also be able to issue commands to his teammates, allowing for powerful combos that can take down the hardiest of foes.
In true Guardians of the Galaxy fashion, the game will also feature a soundtrack of classic 80s rock hits. The confirmed tracklist for the game includes Rick Astley, Blue Oster Cult, Twisted Sister, and Joan Jett amongst many other beloved musicians and bands.
Cosmo and the other Guardians of the Galaxy will be launching on Oct. 26 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.
