A new still from Marvel Studios’ Eternals sees the titular beings united as they begin their work to protect humanity.
A new image from Eternals sees Marvel’s latest superhero team reunited.
The Empire exclusive image sees Sprite (Lia McHugh), Druig (Barry Keoghan), Kingo (Kumail Nanjiani), Phastos (Brian Tyree Henry), Gilgamesh (Don Lee), Sersi (Gemma Chan) and Ikaris (Richard Madden) dressed in civilian clothes as they trek through a desert, with Phastos using his technological powers to guide them. The shot also shows off Eternal‘s use of location shooting and practical sets, which harken back to director Chloé Zhao’s indie film roots.
Producer Nate Moore previously spoke to Empire about the film and how Zhao brought the same style and point of view as her previous film Nomadland. “Chloé’s interested in telling stories about outsiders who find themselves adrift in new worlds, Moore said. “Nomadland and Eternals both share that DNA. Nomadland doesn’t have the same bells and whistles as Eternals, but it has the same thematic resonance.”
Zhao’s work on Nomadland was widely praised, earning the film the Academy Award for Best Picture and Zhao herself the award for Best Director. Moore added, “This is definitely a new one for all of us. ‘From the Academy Award-winning director of…’ isn’t a phrase you’re used to hearing before Marvel movies.”
Eternals lands in theaters on Nov. 5.
