Klaue is bringing new abilities to his mercenaries for Marvel’s Avengers’ War for Wakanda expansion that will challenge new and old players alike.
Marvel’s Avengers is expanding once again with War for Wakanda. The game’s latest expansion will include everything from a new story, locations and the hero Black Panther. It will also provide even more challenges for players to overcome in the form of new types of enemies who work for the villainous Ulysses Klaue.
Klaue will be joined by his mercenaries. Known as the Klaue Company, these foes offer new weapons and status effects called Corrupted Vibranium and Sonic. These new effects will act similarly to the Cryo and Gamma effects that are already in the base game. However, rather than freeze or cause damage over time, they will enhance enemies in ways the game hasn’t seen yet.
The first entry in Klaue’s band of mercenaries is the Bruiser. The bruiser wields a massive axe reminiscent of the Prime Synthoid’s attack rods. When Bruisers are charged with Corrupted Vibranium, they can become overcharged after only a few successful hits. These enemies take reduced damage from the Avengers when overcharged, and their reactions are lessened upon taking hits. They effectively become a mix of DPS and tank that are best countered using Sonic-equipped gear.
The second enemy type joining Klaue on his crusade to destroy Wakanda is the Strategist. Unlike Bruisers, Strategists prefer to stay on the sidelines, using drones to attack. These can buff enemies while simultaneously debuffing the heroes. Like other drones, ranged attacks will defeat them. When feeling threatened, the Strategist will activate a Sonic Aura shield that changes combat entirely.
While the Bruiser’s overcharged ability works in tandem with their attacks, Sonic Aura comes with a completely independent array of abilities. It allows them to block projectiles and melee attacks and immediately redirect them with a Sonic Wave. The best way to counter this is to equip vibranium gear that could bypass or potentially deactivate it if the player trigger’s the gear’s status effect.
The Klaue Company may look like more run-of-the-mill bad guys for the Avengers to beat up, but their new status effects will allow them to pose an even greater challenge than what AIM offered. Thankfully, the heroes will also have Vibranium and Sonic status effects to even the playing field. That being said, to defeat these new foes, players will need to strategize and communicate with their team to strike hard and fast.
