A new game in this famous crossover franchise is long overdue, with some awesome characters just waiting to make an explosive debut.
With the resurgence in popularity of Marvel vs. Capcom 3, fans are once again clamoring for a new installment in the esteemed crossover fighting game franchise. Talented modders are seamlessly replacing characters with new ones, bringing in new possibilities as to what characters from the companies would fit into the robust and varied roster. While some requested characters managed to make it into the official fourth entry, Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite, its various issues have resulted in continued outcry for a new game in the series.
There is also a great variety of potential newcomers from both companies that would make a perfect fit for Marvel vs. Capcom. Some of these are Marvel characters that were planned to be added in previous entries, but were scrapped for one reason or another. Others are from Capcom games that hadn’t come out with Infinite‘s release but would have added a lot of color to the series’ signature assist-based fighting style. Either way, the characters listed here are long overdue for a spot on one of the most influential fighting games ever made.
Doctor Octopus Was Supposed To Be In The Last Marvel Vs. Capcom
One of Spider-Man’s most famous arch-foes, Doc Ock was a completed character for MvC3‘s development with his own unique move set and character theme. He was unfortunately cut due to severe graphical glitches involving his many mechanical arms, but with advancements in technology and graphical capabilities in gaming, this issue should be eliminated by now. Otto Octavius’s move set would combine great strength and range with the use of his robotic arms and balance it with a low health pool to reflect his status as a physically average human being. Otto’s Level 3 Hyper Combo could involve him summoning other members of the Sinister Six to gang up on the opponent, reflecting his natural leadership and strategic genius.
Mister Fantastic’s Inclusion In The Next MvC Wouldn’t Be A Stretch
Another character considered for Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Reed Richards and the other members of the Fantastic Four were all possibilities. Reed’s development was just starting when Marvel intervened and suggested Super-Skrull as a replacement for the whole team. A future game could properly implement Marvel’s First Family: while Reed takes his own character slot, the other members of the Four can be switched out via a special command, with Sue Storm making the selected character visible and invisible to appear as if from nowhere. Reed and the F4’s Level 3 Hyper Combo would either be the team combining their powers in one massive attack, or Reed taking out the Ultimate Nullifier to completely decimate the opponent.
Ant-Man Could Crawl His Way Into The Next Game
A founding Avenger, Ant-Man has already shown up to some degree as part of Hawkeye’s Level 3 Hyper Combo in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3. Still, Ant-Man on his own would make for a unique and versatile addition to MvC‘s roster with his odd powerset, size-shifting to either microscopic dimensions or gigantic heights and the ability to telepathically communicate with ants. These abilities would be difficult to balance, as they could easily make Ant-Man either too weak or borderline invincible with the opponent being unable to hit the hero or being constantly stun locked by ant battalions. Overcoming these obstacles would lead to making Ant-Man an invaluable new character, with his partner Wasp potentially acting as a guest character in his Level 3 Hyper Combo.
Alcina Dimitrescu Could Scare Up Some Competition in MvC
Joining Capcom’s ever-growing list of iconic villains, Alcina Dimitrescu is the breakout character from the latest Resident Evil game. Despite only appearing in Resident Evil Village‘s first couple of hours, Lady Dimitrescu has left a strong impression with her imposing height, vampiric abilities, host of equally impressive daughters and oozing charisma that would stand out even among the outlandish cast in the Capcom multiverse. Lady D could act as a potential replacement for recurring Resident Evil 3 antagonist Nemesis as a slightly faster, more versatile character who can summon her daughters as part of her special commands while still retaining a large amount of power behind her swings.
Nero Would Bring Out The Devil In The Next Marvel Vs. Capcom
Vergil’s long-lost son and Dante’s quasi-protege, Nero stands out from the two primary Devil May Cry veterans with a very aggressive and wild fighting style that’s reliant on both his unique custom sword and the abilities granted by his right hand. In Devil May Cry 5, Nero’s Devil Bringer Arm is replaced by the mechanical Devil Breaker, granting him not only a variety of special cybernetic powers but also a grappling hook, making Nero a flashy alternative to Bionic Commando‘s Rad Spencer. As with the other Devil Hunters, Nero’s Level 3 Hyper Combo would be the Devil Trigger powerup.
