This February, the ’90s Spider-Man spinoff team known as the Slingers gets a brand-new one-shot from Marvel Comics.
The Spider-Man spinoff team known as the Slingers returns to Marvel Comics for a special one-shot early next year.
“Also coming in February will be a special one-shot written by Geoffrey Thorne with art by Jan Bazaldua and Jim Towe,” Marvel announced. “Amazing Spider-Man #88.BEY will feature the return of the fan favorite super hero team — the Slingers! You didn’t think the Beyond Corporation only had one hero on their payroll? Watch as Hobie Brown ascends to new heights as The Hornet!”
Created by Joseph Harris and Adam Pollina, the Slingers — consisting of Ricochet, Prodigy, Dusk and Hornet — first appeared in 1998’s Slingers #0. The team’s eponymous title ultimately concluded with issue #12 in 1999, with the Slingers also appearing in Contest of Champions II #3 and New Warriors #1 that same year.
Since the ’90s, the Slingers as a team have been largely absent from the world of Marvel Comics, only appearing as a flashback in 2011’s Fear Itself: Youth in Revolt #1 before finally making a proper return for a three-issue stint in Ben Reilly: The Scarlet Spider in early 2018.
Written by Geoffrey Thorne and illustrated by Jan Bazaldua and Jim Towe, Amazing Spider-Man #88.BEY goes on sale in February 2022 from Marvel Comics.
