Marvel Officially Introduces a New Captain America and He’s Not Alone

[ad_1]

Inspired by Captain America’s example and legacy, a new hero has stepped up with their own mission for the changing Marvel Universe.

WARNING: The following contains spoilers for The United States of Captain America #1, by Christopher Cantwell, Josh Trujillo, Dale Eaglesham, Jan Bazaldua, Matt Milla and VC’s Joe Caramagna, on sale now.

While the Marvel Universe has boasted multiple Captains America’s around the globe to defend the American Dream before, the new series The United States of Captain America takes this one step further by expanding the legacy of the superhero Sentinel of Liberty from sea to shining sea, with a whole host of new characters providing their own unique twist of the mantle.

And in the wake of a supervillain attack, Steve Rogers and Sam Wilson come face to face with the first in this new wave of Captains America, Aaron Fischer.

While contemplating his own life and legacy, juxtaposed with that of public perception of the American Dream itself, Steve’s home is broken into by a mysterious figure dressed as Captain America who steals his signature vibranium shield. As Steve and Sam pursue the high-speed antagonist, they are diverted to stop a train from crashing, with the distraction caused by the villainous Captain America. And in the immediate aftermath, Aaron introduces himself as the Captain America of the Railways, who rides the rails defending truth, justice and the American Way on his own terms, clearly inspired by Steve and Sam’s enduring example.

Aaron recounts his past as a youth riding the rails and learning that local youths in one location are going missing, with their disappearances linked to the Roxxon Corporation. As Aaron moves to investigate further, he finds himself captured by Roxxon and placed into an internment camp. Taking inspiration from Captain America and in order to help motivate his fellow prisoners, Aaron fashions a crude Captain America shield and outfit for himself before breaking out with his love interest Adrian as the two teenagers eventually link up with the railroad and ride to safer territories while Aaron resolves to maintain his alter ego as his own Captain America.

Aaron eventually makes way to New York City, joining Steve and Sam when the two heroes are diverted to stop a train from crashing while in hot pursuit of a villain wearing a Captain America costume that has stolen Steve’s signature vibranium shield. After initially confusing Aaron for another Captain America-themed opponent, Steve and Sam save the teenager from an assassin. With Aaron endangered, Steve and Sam decide to take this teenage Captain America under their wing to keep him safe while continuing to investigate the rise in new Captains Americas.

Aaron is just one in a wave of new Captains America slated to join Steve Rogers and Sam Wilson as their latest adventure truly begins. Aaron has a mission of his own — investigating a wave of disappearances linked to one of the most powerful corporations in the Marvel Universe. His interest places on him the radar of particularly deadly people as he gets closer to the truth. And while Aaron has already shown plenty of determination and grit as he escaped from Roxxon’s camps to link up with the veteran superheroes, he is about to face his next big test as the trio faces even more Captains Americas.
