Marvel Fan Gender-Swaps Venom Villain Knull in Incredible Cosplay

[ad_1]

Gracie The Cosplay Lass shows off an impressive cosplay as the Queen in Black, Knull, a spin on the Venom villain from Donny Cates and Ryan Stegman.

King in Black and Venom villain Knull just received a gender-swapped cosplay that gives a stunning look at how the character might appear in live-action.

Portrayed by “Gracie The Cosplay Lass” on Twitter, her cosplay shows a reimagined Knull that is true to the character created by writer Donny Cates and artist Ryan Stegman. Much like one of the first looks seen of Knull in Venom #3, the image taken by photographer Benjamin Farren shows off Knull holding All-Black the Necrosword, with symbiotes bearing the god’s swirled mark coming off of her body. The image gives fans their closest look at how the character might look in an adaptation, especially since the God of the Symbiotes has only been around since 2018.

Knull made his debut in Venom #3, shown as the mysterious force behind the Grendel, a symbiote dragon that Eddie Brock, Venom and Spider-Man (Miles Morales) face off against. From that issue onward, he was the world-ending threat that loomed in the background of the title, until the Absolute Carnage event sent him soaring through space towards Earth, his arrival shown in King in Black. The later Marvel event that ran from late 2020 into early 2021 showed the god take over and nearly destroy the planet before Earth’s mightiest heroes and an Enigma Force-powered Eddie Brock dethrone him and send him hurtling into the Sun.

The former Venom creative team, Cates and Stegman, also recently celebrated Knull becoming a Marvel Legends figure. The figure reveal shows the god in a pose identical to Gracie The Cosplay Lass, who appears to have drawn inspiration from it. The cosplayer used the #MarvelLegends to accompany her post, indicating the reference.

Knull has yet to be adapted in any other form, but elements of Cates and Stegman’s time on Venom recently crept their way into Sony Pictures’ Venom: Let There Be Carnage. Towards the beginning of the film as Cletus Kasady’s (Woody Harrelson) backstory is told to Eddie (Tom Hardy) in an animated sequence, it references Cates’ addition to Carnage’s history in that his heart stopped as a child. Then, in the film’s post-credit scene, Venom speaks to Eddie about the “Hive Mind,” which is the collective symbiote consciousness that Knull controls in Marvel Comics.

Whether Knull might make his way to the big screen remains to be seen. However, the Let There Be Carnage post-credit scene has teased the possibility of a confrontation with Tom Holland’s Spider-Man, with Hardy spotted wearing a Spider-Man: No Way Home hat back in September. For now, the created cosplay allows fans to imagine how a live-action Queen or King of the Symbiotes could appear in media some day.
