Lost In Space Season 2 Has Major Questions to Answer

[ad_1]

Let’s dive into the two seasons that have elapsed in Netflix’s Lost in Space and what major questions the third and final season has to answer.

Netflix’s Lost in Space has done a brilliant job of reimagining the ’60s series from Irwin Allen, while also updating key elements of the 1998 film for modern audiences. Once again, it focused on the Robinsons getting marooned in the cosmos, with Season 2 splitting the family apart after a war with the robots reached fever pitch. With that in mind, let’s dissect some of the major questions the third and final season has to answer.

Where Are Judy And The Kids in Lost in Space?

Season 2 concluded with Scarecrow, the other robot Will turned to the light, fending off his ex-colleagues on the Resolute. While the main ship was destroyed, Judy was able to take the 97 kids from the expedition via a Jupiter small vessel and go through a rift; however, they didn’t get to Alpha Centauri. They locked onto a signal to a new, strange solar system, with the trailer showing them scaling cliffs and forming a society a la Lord of the Flies, leaving fans wondering what planet they’re on and how hostile it is.

Will The Robinsons Reunite in Lost in Space?

John and Maureen stayed behind with the older folks, including Don, to help fight the evil legion of bots off, buying the kids time. However, Maureen’s depressed in the trailers, with John haggard as ever too, as they’re trying to get back to their kids. It’d be an unpredictable swerve if they’re kept separate, protecting their kids’ location so the younglings can get to the colony. However, it’d push Judy, as captain, Penny and Will to be leaders even more in their absence.

Is Judy’s Father Still Alive?

Orbiting their new home, Judy spotted the wreck of the Fortuna, the ship her dad, Grant, piloted years back. He was thought dead so there’s a chance he may be on the planet below. If he’s alive and brought back, this could create a love triangle as Maureen was with him before. We know she and John patched up their marital problems, but this could change the family dynamic in a big way.

How Did Smith Survive in Lost in Space?

Parker Posey’s Smith fought off the robots too, seemingly sacrificing herself as we saw her space suit mangled. But Robot found her scarf and blue ball on Will’s ship, so we’re eager to see if she quickly stowed away with them. The trailers have her with John and Co. though, so it may foreshadow how she helps the kids get back to their parents, if she didn’t sneak onto John’s vessel. Either way, fans want to know how she raced from the breaking Resolute bridge to find haven amid so many killer droids.

What Are Lost in Space’s Robots?

Whilst clues were laid down on the Water and Amber Planets over the robots being a dark civilization, we’re not sure what they are. The fact that Scarecrow and Will’s bot turned on their own and gained humanity suggests there may be a caste system, some were enslaved and there may have been a civil war. It could be other robot rebels may help the humans out, with Season 3 needing to confirm if they’re hellbent on conquering planets with Earth as a possible target, why they were built and by whom.

Is Lost in Space’s Scarecrow Alive?

It’s vague if Scarecrow survived the Resolute’s breakage, with the trailers keeping it as obscure as can be. He’s just as heroic as Will’s bot, so we can see him trying to help John’s crew try to find their children, while also being used as the warning when his kin arrive. There’s a chance, though, he might have been captured and turned evil again, adding emotional conflict to the humans that took him in, or even if he meets up Will and Robot again.

Will Mankind Ever Find The Colony?

We really haven’t seen Alpha Centauri and its two suns, so there’s a chance the show could keep this as an unreachable paradise to add a sense of false hope and realism. It may even follow the Interstellar route in that this galactic heaven and new home away from Earth might not even exist anymore, leaving this 24th expedition as the last bastion of humanity. It’d be cruel but fit the show’s aesthetic where the Robinsons learn that not everything is ideal and in their favor.

Season 3 of Netflix’s Lost in Space is streaming as of Dec. 1.
