A preview of John Layman and Nick Bradshaw’s Bermuda finds the titular 16-year-old meeting new castaways on her out of this world island.
While you may have heard stories of people becoming lost in the Bermuda Triangle, John Layman and Nick Bradshaw’s new IDW Publishing series titled Bermuda will put the spotlight on a marooned 16-year-old.
Our protagonist is actually named Bermuda, and she found herself orphaned on the mysterious island of Trangle. She was raised by the kind Dr. Hito Nakamura, who is a fellow castaway just like Bermuda. Together, they must face all the dangers that the island throws at them, which includes dinosaurs, aliens, pirates and more.
The first set of preview pages follows an affluent family in their plane that’s being rocked by a violent nightstorm. The siblings, Bobby and Andi, are both scared, though their father tries to reassure them that he only hires the best pilots money can buy. We’re then taken to the cockpit, where the two pilots comment on never seeing a storm like this before. Suddenly, the plane is struck by lightning and goes down in the ocean.
When we began the preview it was nighttime. Now we find the wreckage of the plane washed ashore the next morning, with Bobby waking up to Bermuda standing over him. “You need to get away from this place,” she says. “Get up. Get moving. Or you’re going to get yourself killed.”
