The latest episode of Superman & Lois revealed someone close to Lana is hiding a heartbreaking secret that will destroy the family forever.

As Season 2 of Superman & Lois progressed, a major turning point was how unified the Cushing family had gotten again. Last season had them steeped in family turmoil, with Lana drawing the ire of her jealous husband, Kyle, after she tried to stop Morgan Edge’s investment into Smallville. In addition, she often butted heads with her daughter, Sarah, with the teen struggling to cope with mental health and a newfound rebellious streak. Luckily, when Edge was revealed to be Tal-Rho and then got beaten into submission, it felt like things had healed for them, and the dusty Kansas farm town on the whole. Unfortunately, Lana’s world is about to be destroyed as Kyle holds a very heartbreaking secret.
It occurred in the final moments of the episode when Kyle sauntered over to a bar, feeling the stress and strain of Lana’s mayoral campaign. Previously, Mayor Dean ran Daniel Hart out of town, forcing Lana to go up, but they were unprepared for how nasty he’d eventually play the political game.
Dean gathered dirty secrets and threatened to use them, intimidating the family over Sarah’s past attempts to take her life, as well as Kyle’s sobriety issues. He even hinted Kyle got “handsy” at times, which Lana didn’t pick up on, as she had faith in her husband.
However, the spouse proved he just couldn’t be trusted at the bar when he visited, and the young lady selling drinks told him the guys missed him. It seemed like they were his old buddies from the fire station, but before clarity could be gained, she flirted with Kyle and began intimately rubbing his hands, admitting she missed them spending time together too.
Kyle’s reaction sold him out because he confessed he came here to talk, not just about him abstaining from alcohol, but their romantic relationship. It set up a very explosive showdown, leaving fans wondering when did Kyle commit adultery. It may well be when Season 1 had him with a bruised ego, angry and envious Lana was making inroads as Morgan’s business partner at the time. However, the show did hint they had marital issues before that, which might have contributed to Sarah’s mental health problems.
This infidelity doesn’t bode well for Lana’s professional career because Kyle’s actions suggest he knows it’s a ticking time bomb until Dean exposes the truth. As such, Kyle may be blackmailed into sabotaging his wife’s campaign or getting her to quit. Ultimately, though, with this new love triangle, the mayorship fiasco is the least of Kyle’s worries, because once the beans are spilled, he’ll crush his family, totally wreck Lana’s happiness and possibly spiral Sarah into depression again.
