Kingdom Hearts has always been a series in which the main characters’ bonds have been important, especially if that bond is friendship. Roxas, Sora’s nobody and the thirteenth member of the original Organization XIII, became one of the fans’ favorite characters due to the friendships he had in Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, Kingdom Hearts II, and Kingdom Hearts III.
His entire arc revolves around those he is close to as without them, he would have been nothing but a pawn for the Organization. Instead, he turned his back on them, started a new life in Twilight Town until his past caught up to him, and fought his former comrades with the Guardians of Light.
8 Saix Used To Be One Of His Greatest Enemies But Ended Up Helping Him
When Roxas was a member of Organization XIII, Saix treated him horribly. However, Saix eventually betrayed his comrades when they fought against the Guardians of Light by bringing Roxas and Xion to them. As he was defeated, he finally admitted that he was jealous of Roxas’ friendship with Axel.
He then made amends with Roxas, as well as Xion, and started spending time with them at Twilight Town. Seeing as how they just became friends, it will be interesting to see what their future interactions with each other are like.
7 Sora And Roxas Have A Complicated Friendship
Though Roxas is Sora’s nobody, the two of them don’t get along too much. Sora and Roxas were unable to have their own independent lives for so long, and Roxas often had to be inside of Sora’s heart. Though Roxas accepted this, he also wanted to be his own person, and Sora wanted to help make that happen.
At the end of Kingdom Hearts III, it finally did, and the conflicts that they had have been resolved. Roxas is currently trying to help find a way to bring Sora back now as he disappeared by abusing the Power of Waking.
6 Luxord And Roxas Got Along When They Went On Missions Together
While he was in Organization XIII, Roxas would sometimes get paired up with Luxord on their missions in Wonderland. The two of them got along quite well, at least compared to many of the other organization members that Roxas interacted with.
Their friendship was explored further in the manga as they went on a long mission together where they helped each other out. Though they didn’t get to know each other that much, they always respected each other and got along.
5 Demyx Helped Bring Roxas Back
Like Luxord, Demyx always got along with Roxas when they were members of Organization XIII, especially when they went on missions together. However, Demyx didn’t prove how good of a friend he was until Kingdom Hearts III, when he went behind the organization’s backs to bring a replica to Ienzo, which was used to become Roxas’ new body.
Like Sora and Saix, Roxas never would have been able to become his own person if it weren’t for Demyx.
4 Namine Became Roxas’ Friend Despite Wanting To Bring Sora Back
Because there was a time where people didn’t believe that Sora and Roxas could be their own people at the same time, characters had to choose which of the two deserved to be awakened, with Namine helping Riku and Ansem, who wanted to bring Sora back. When they took away Roxas’ memories and brought him into a fake version of Twilight Town, Namine became his friend.
Over a few days, she slowly told him what was going on, which eventually led to him sacrificing himself to bring Sora back. At the end of Kingdom Hearts II, Namine, who was Kairi’s nobody, returned to her, making it so Roxas and Namine could be with each other whenever Sora and Kairi were, which was one of the few things they still had to look forward to.
3 The Twilight Town Trio Became Roxas’ Friends When He Lost His Memories
During his time in the fake Twilight Town, Roxas became friends with Hayner, Pence, and Olette. With them, he believed that he was on summer vacation and spent the last week he had of it with them. From getting jobs so they could go to the beach to discovering Twilight Town’s secrets, they had a lot of fun despite only knowing each other for a little while.
However, when Sora met the real versions of them, he became friends with them and told them about Roxas, who they had hoped to meet. At the end of Kingdom Hearts III, they finally met Roxas and spend a lot of time with him.
2 Axel Was The First Friend That Roxas Made
While most of Organization XIII didn’t care about Roxas when he first joined them, Axel welcomed him into the group and spent most of his days with him in Twilight Town as they ate ice cream. Axel taught Roxas a lot of things, including what it meant to be a friend. However, in order to keep their friendship alive, Axel also had to hide a lot of things from Roxas. When he eventually found out that things weren’t as they seemed, Roxas started to lose trust in Axel and left Organization XIII.
Shortly after, his memories were taken from him, and Axel was ordered to bring him back. Unfortunately, Axel lost hope when he saw how different Roxas became and was forced to fight him. After leaving the organization himself, Axel teamed up with the protagonists and was thrilled when Roxas returned. The two of them finally defeated the group that turned them against each other.
1 Xion Became Roxas’ Closest Friend
After Roxas joined the organization, they used him to create Xion so they could have two keyblade wielders. However, Roxas and Xion didn’t know their true connection with each other for a long time and weren’t even friends for a while. After the two of them went on missions together, Roxas started teaching Xion the things he learned from Axel. The three of them spent nearly every day with each other for a year, but when Xion learned where she came from and that she was also needed to save Sora, she betrayed Organization XIII.
She ended up fighting against Roxas, knowing that he needed to return to Sora as well, and he was sad that he had to defeat his best friend. Luckily, just like him, she was able to return in Kingdom Hearts III, allowing Roxas to reunite with the people he cared most about.
