The controversial Cloud versions of the Kingdom Hearts games on Switch have received a new update today, Square Enix Japan has announced. This means that all three collections — Kingdom Hearts – HD 1.5 + 2.5 Remix, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, and Kingdom Hearts III + Re Mind — are now on version 1.0.3.

The updates bring mostly minor changes to these ports, which require you to be connected to the internet in order to stream them. Kingdom Heart III, however, has received an additional option to allow you to choose between “Performance” and “Graphics” modes, which is common practice in many video games nowadays.

Here are the patch notes for each game in the Kingdom Hearts Masterpiece Integrum collection, machine translated from Square Enix Japan’s support pages:

Kingdom Hearts – HD 1.5 + 2.5 Remix – Patch 1.0.3 (Released 12th May, 2022)

– The server congestion status is now displayed on the portal screen.

Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue – Patch 1.0.3 (Released 12th May, 2022)

– The server congestion status is now displayed on the portal screen.

Kingdom Hearts III + Re Mind – Patch 1.0.3 (Released 12th May, 2022)

– The server congestion status is now displayed on the portal screen.
– When starting a game from the portal screen, you can now select either “Performance priority” or “Graphics priority” to play.

At least now, fans who have purchased the Cloud versions of the game will be able to see how busy the servers are, but many are still questioning why certain entries can’t just be ported to the system. Back in October last year, we asked this posed this question to Ichiro Hazama — the series’ producer — who said that porting the titles directly proved to be “quite difficult”. That totally means we’re getting Kingdom Hearts IV on Switch, right? Right?!

You can see for yourself what we thought of the entire collection in our review below, but we want to hear from you if you’ve played the Cloud versions of the Kingdom Hearts games, and whether you think these updates will be helpful!
