In AMC’s Kevin Can F**k Himself, Kevin runs an escape room from the basement that almost ruins Allison’s finances and life.

In AMC’s Kevin Can F**k Himself, Allison is at her wit’s end trying to figure out what to do with Kevin. The neglectful husband has driven her to drunken binges, as well as the epiphany she needs to poison him and make it look like a drug overdose. However, in the latest episode, things get even worse when Kevin nearly destroys Allison’s life — and her sinister scheme — with an escape room.
“Live Free or Die” has Allison (Annie Murphy) leaving to go score drugs. She lies, saying she’s going to Worcester for errands. Kevin (Eric Petersen), though, is obsessed with a secret plan of his own, totally ignoring her as she begs him to take corned beef out of the stove after a couple hours. Allison also reminds Kevin that she’s borrowing the car.
When she leaves, Kevin reveals he’s turned the basement into an escape room with a $10,000 prize. He’s used his posse to rig the event. However, he’s planted himself as a customer to sabotage the search. He didn’t bank of such an intelligent team, though, and just as they’re about to crack the case and throw him in debt, he grabs the key and swallows it. As time runs out, Kevin thinks he’s won. Everyone then leaves through a window, but Kevin gets stuck. He then panics and smells smoke, realizing the kitchen is on fire. Luckily, he’s able to call the fire department, but as he phones Allison, he admits he almost burned their house down. The entire thing proves sickening, as he’s nearly ruined their lives as part of one of his get-rich quick schemes.
It gets worse, though, when Allison is pulled over by the police. She’s told the car was stolen and has to call Kevin to verify what’s going on. He totally forgot she took the car, and the issue’s cleared up. Still, Allison has drugs on her thanks to a deal gone sour, which means she could have been in huge trouble had the cops searched the vehicle. As the cop departs with a warning, Allison is more determined than ever to murder the man causing her so much misery.
At this point, Allison’s neighbor Patty signs up to help kill Kevin, because she can’t see Allison destroyed like this. Her brother, Neil, might be Kevin’s bestie, but she was the one who revealed the truth about what Kevin did to their savings. And now, with Kevin almost landing them in jail, she knows it’s the only way for Allison to truly feel free.
