Kang the Conqueror Is on a Collision Course With Marvel’s Newest God

[ad_1]

Before Kang the Conquer turns his attention to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the iconic Avengers villain is set to fight another Marvel movie hero.

WARNING: The following contains major spoilers for Free Comic Book Day: Spider-Man/Venom #1, available now from Marvel.

The Marvel Universe has never been short on impossibly powerful threats, and Eddie Brock has learned just how powerful those threats can be lately. After a superhero and supervillain career mainly spent fighting Spider-Man or other symbiotes, Venom’s most famous host has dealt with the awesome power of the ancient tyrant symbiote god Knull, who he defeated before claiming the King in Black’s throne as his own. Now that he commands an army of symbiotes across the cosmos, Eddie has rededicated himself to saving lives and doing good across every corner of the universe and beyond.

Unfortunately, Brock’s new position has also come with some new abilities that push the limits of what he is truly capable of, and that has put him on Kang the Conqueror’s radar in the worst way imaginable in “Like Father, Like Son,” by Ram V, Al Ewing, Bryan Hitch, Andrew Currie, Alex Sinclair, and VC’s Clayton Cowles.

Venom vs Kang

Throughout the cosmos, Eddie leads the symbiotes under his purview to do as much good as possible in the hopes of repairing at least some of the damage that Knull had caused. While there are already dark forces at work within his Hive that have escaped his gaze, Brock has many more problems heading his way, according to a teaser for Venom’s upcoming series. Most disturbingly, his most recent experiments with his newfound powers may have just put him on Kang the Conqueror’s watchlist.

One vision of an upcoming moment in the book includes Kang and Eddie locked in vicious combat with one another. Under any other circumstances, it might be difficult to imagine why Kang would have a bone to pick with the King in Black. However, Eddie Brock has been slowly exploring the depths of just what all is possible as the god of the symbiotes, including abilities that could be described as time travel.

Venom Time Travel King in Black Power

As established in Donny Cates, Kev Walker, Danilo S. Beyruth, Ron Lim, Guiu Vilanova, Gerardo Sandoval and Mark Bagley’s Venom #16, Eddie has discovered that his symbiote powers can make him somewhat omnipresent. While he can instantly transport himself to any symbiote’s location, he believes that he can revisit moments from the past with this power, potentially traveling to these moments and changing them. While Knull never exploited his powers in this way, this could give Eddie Brock a way to naturally travel through time, which would likely put him on Kang’s radar.

Whether these two come to blows over Eddie’s eventual manipulation of the past or Kang’s desire to wield that power for himself is still unclear. There could even be another layer to all of this that has yet to be uncovered entirely. But if Eddie really can travel through time through his symbiote Hive, he could very well be something that Kang sees as a potential threat or weapon that he wants to wield. While it’s not clear what will bring these two to the same battlefield, their inevitable fight seems sure to be one for the ages.
