After reacting to a news report captioned “‘Absurdity’ of police logging rapists as women,” J.K. Rowling, the creator of the Harry Potter series drew abuse online. Rowling tweeted a link to The Times’ news item on December 12 with a caption that enraged hard left, “woke” internet users. According to the story, the Scotland Police insist on registering rapes as “committed by women” if the accused suspect requests it, even if they have not legally changed their gender. “
War is Peace,” JK Rowling tweeted in response to the news item. Slavery is the opposite of freedom. Ignorance is a powerful weapon. The person who raped you is a woman who is imprisoned.” Her response to her tweet generated a sensation on the microblogging site, and netizens began to react. While some internet users backed Rowling’s position, many others called her reaction ‘transphobic.’
War is Peace.
Freedom is Slavery.
Ignorance is Strength.

The tweet has received over 100K likes and 23K retweets since it was posted. The Twitterati rushed to express their dissatisfaction with the author’s response. Check out some user reactions:
Love is peace.
Freedom is acceptance.
Understanding is strength.
Trans women are not a danger to society. J.K Rowling loves to fuel hate towards a whole group of innocent beautiful people.— Daniel Lismore (@daniellismore) December 13, 2021
I’m disgusted

You have broken my heart. Why are you like this? 💔

Why does it sound like you’re more upset about trans people than rapists? Feels like your priorities are wrong here, babe.
— Nicole Maines (@NicoleAMaines) December 13, 2021
You created an entire universe filled with wonderful characters, fantastical beasts, magic & wonder, but can’t fathom that trans people exist?
You’ve gone downhill from the inspiring woman who wrote Harry Potter from her car.
— Jason (@JTheGhoul) December 13, 2021
Some cis women are rapists
Worth noting that many GCs also want to record trans women rape victims as men
This is all just moral panic to justify taking away all trans people rights. It’s to bypass your rational brain

Sorry, J.K., but if a self-described trans (alleged) rapist is indeed a trans person, there’s no harm or foul here—the policy just ensures proper recordkeeping. And if the suspect *falsely* claims to be trans, that lie will be used against them at their rape trial. No issue here. https://t.co/ph0w7a1SMf

Rowling’s post comes just days before the premiere of the new trailer for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, which is due to hit theaters on April 15. Last year, Rowling predicted that transgender ideology will lead to the extinction of womanhood by denying the essential biological processes that distinguish women from men.
I respect every trans person’s right to live any way that feels authentic and comfortable to them. I’d march with you if you were discriminated against on the basis of being trans. At the same time, my life has been shaped by being female. I do not believe it’s hateful to say so.

Afterwards, Rowling’s tweet saw massive backlash, prompting some Harry Potter actors such as Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, and Eddie Redmayne to virtue signal their full throated support for transgender people, while other franchise stars such as Ralph Fiennes and Robbie Coltrane, both defended Rowling.
Rowling eventually wrote a response describing her personal experiences as a survivor of sexual assault and violence where she defended her belief that the concept of men becoming women erases womanhood entirely.
“It isn’t enough for women to be trans allies,” she penned. “Women must accept and admit that there is no material difference between trans women and themselves. But, as many women have said before me, ‘woman’ is not a costume. ‘Woman’ is not an idea in a man’s head.’”
Back on November 16, the cast of the beloved “Harry Potter” films was announced to be reuniting for a 20th anniversary special on HBO MAX titled Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts.
Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, Tom Felton, Robbie Coltrane, Helena Bonham Carter, Bonnie Wright, and Gary Oldman are among the cast members who are expected to reunite for the special. Rowling, who has faced flak after a June tweet rejecting the term “those who menstruate,” was left off the list of people who will appear in the special.
