Jackass Forever Confirms Danger Ehren Is the Franchise’s Punching Bag

One specific longtime member of the Jackass franchise ends up the butt of some of Jackass Forever’s most absurd comedy bits.

WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Jackass Forever, currently playing in theaters

Jackass Forever reunites most of the franchises’ long-running cast members, quickly throwing them back into the franchises’ trademark over-the-top stunts and antics alongside some new faces. But while the veterans end up the butt of a joke or the target of a prank, given the innate nature of the series, by the end of the film, Ehren has more or less cemented himself as the group’s ultimate target for slapstick bits.

“Danger” Ehren McGhehey has been a fixture of the Jackass franchise since the beginning, joining the group early in the production of the original television series. McGhehey has also carved out an unfortunate position for himself as the group’s ultimate prank magnet. While every member of the group has been the butt of the joke at some point or another, McGhehey has been targeted by some of the most elaborate. Jackass Number Two even featured the infamous “Terror Taxi” prank, all centered around tricking McGhehey into believing his life was at risk whilst performing an inherently offensive sketch. By the time of Jackass Forever, Ehren has fully moved into the position of the group’s punching bag — literally.

While the stunts and pranks are largely split between the old cast and the new recruits to the series (and both Johnny Knoxville and Steve-O required medical attention after some of theirs), McGhehey arguably suffers the most overall in the film. He’s chosen as the subject for a sequel to the Cup Test from the original Jackass television series, only, instead of children and baseballs targeting Knoxville’s groin, it’s McGhehey being hit directly by professional UFC fighters, softball pitchers and hockey players.

He’s at the center of multiple stunts involving animals, with the most extreme being one of the film’s final set-pieces. After strapping McGhehey to a chair and slathering him in honey to seemingly throw bees at him, the real bit is revealed when raw meat is also dumped all over him: a black bear is unleashed into the room, with a tied down and panicky McGhehey still being electrocuted by Knoxville throughout. Each of these stunts results in a panicking McGhehey still diving into the chaos. The bear stunt even requires the animal’s handler to rush into the situation to keep McGhehey safe.

McGhehey has been routinely teased by the rest of the gleefully prankish cast, with his shrill shrieks being a frequent source of comedy in the series as a whole and Jackass Forever as a whole. This might be partly due to Bam Margera — another frequent target of the group’s jokes — not being a part of the film, and the Jackass crew having a modicum of restraint with their newer recruits. But it all comes around to Danger Ehren being perhaps the film’s most physically abused cast member, a position he largely fills well.

To see how far the group takes things with Danger Ehren, Jackass Forever is in theaters now.
