Japanese video game veteran Sega has filed a trademark for ‘Sega Sapporo Studio’, which suggests the company is opening a new base in Hokkaido’s capital city.

The trademark was filed on October 11th in Japan in both English and Japanese.

Sapporo is the largest Japanese city north of Tokyo and the largest city on the northern island of Hokkaido. Zoom (Zero Divide series) is also based in the city, while Hudson Soft was founded there in 1973. Konami – which purchased Hudson Soft – also had a studio in Sapporo at one point.

Sega’s main HQ is located in Shinagawa, Tokyo.
